Creeping Things
Holman Bible Dictionary
English translation sometimes used for a general Hebrew term designating small animals that appear to creep or crawl along the ground. English translators sometimes use “moving things” or other equivalents for the Hebrew word. The term was applied to all land animals in general (Genesis 1:24-26 ,Genesis 1:24-26,1:28; Genesis 7:23; Genesis 9:3 ), fish (Psalm 69:34; Psalm 104:25; Habakkuk 1:14 ), forest animals (Psalm 104:20 ), and swarming creatures (that is, weasels, mice, lizards, snails, moles, and perhaps even crocodiles, NRSV, NAS; Leviticus 11:29-30 ,Leviticus 11:29-30,11:44 ,Leviticus 11:44,11:46 ).
