at Bethlehem

And drew near

and presented himself

וַיִּתְיַצֵּ֖ב

וַיְּשָּֽׁמְעוּ֙

הַדְּבָרִ֔ים

וַיַּגִּ֥דוּ

וַיִּקָּחֵֽהוּ׃

וְהֶחֱזַ֙קְתִּי֙

[him] by his beard

and struck him

וַהֲמִיתִּֽיו׃

you have defied

will deliver

יְסַגֶּרְךָ֩

the LORD you

into my hand

and I will strike

wə·hik·kî·ṯi·ḵā,

וְהִכִּיתִ֗ךָ

you and take

wa·hă·si·rō·ṯî

וַהֲסִרֹתִ֤י

mê·‘ā·le·ḵā,

you and I will give

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

וְנָ֨תַתִּ֜י

the carcasses

of the Philistines

פְלִשְׁתִּים֙

to the birds

haš·šā·ma·yim

הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם

and to the wild beasts

ū·lə·ḥay·yaṯ

of the earth

and may know

lə·yiś·rā·’êl.

לְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

And shall know

yə·hō·wō·šî·a‘

יְהוֹשִׁ֣יעַ

that the LORD

[is] of the LORD

for the battle

ham·mil·ḥā·māh,

הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה

and he will give

into our hands

bə·yā·ḏê·nū.

בְּיָדֵֽנוּ׃

and it came to pass

the Philistine

hap·pə·liš·tî,

הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔י

and drew near

that hurried

toward the army

ham·ma·‘ă·rā·ḵāh

הַמַּעֲרָכָ֖ה

the Philistine

hap·pə·liš·tî.

הַפְּלִשְׁתִּֽי׃

וַיִּשְׁלַח֩

and slung [it]

way·qal·la‘,

the Philistine

on his forehead

וַתִּטְבַּ֤ע

into his forehead

to the earth

so prevailed

way·ye·ḥĕ·zaq

and with a stone

their champion

and they fled

וַיָּנֻֽסוּ׃

וַֽיִּרְדְּפוּ֙

the Philistines

to the valley

And fell down

way·yip·pə·lū

וַֽיִּפְּל֞וּ

of the Philistines

פְלִשְׁתִּים֙

ša·‘ă·ra·yim,

And returned

way·yā·šu·ḇū

וַיָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙

the children

from chasing

the Philistines

p̄ə·liš·tîm;

פְלִשְׁתִּ֑ים

and they spoiled

way·yā·šōs·sū

וַיָּשֹׁ֖סּוּ

ma·ḥă·nê·hem.

מַחֲנֵיהֶֽם׃

of the Philistine

וַיְבִאֵ֖הוּ

it to Jerusalem
