וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

his children

of his old age

of [many] colors

more than all

then they hated

way·yiś·nə·’ū

וַֽיִּשְׂנְא֖וּ

to him peacefully

way·ya·ḥă·lōm

and he told [it]

unto his brothers

and the more

way·yō·w·si·p̄ū

וַיּוֹסִ֥פוּ

I have dreamed

ḥā·lā·mə·tî.

חָלָֽמְתִּי׃

were binding

mə·’al·lə·mîm

מְאַלְּמִ֤ים

’ă·lum·mā·ṯî

stood upright

stood around

ṯə·sub·be·nāh

תְסֻבֶּ֙ינָה֙

your sheaves

’ă·lum·mō·ṯê·ḵem,

אֲלֻמֹּ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם

and bowed down

wat·tiš·ta·ḥă·we·nā

וַתִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖יןָ

la·’ă·lum·mā·ṯî.

לַאֲלֻמָּתִֽי׃

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּ֤אמְרוּ

his brothers

shall you reign

shall you have dominion

and the more

way·yō·w·si·p̄ū

וַיּוֹסִ֤פוּ

ḥă·lō·mō·ṯāw

And he dreamed

way·ya·ḥă·lōm

unto his brothers

I have dreamed

חָלַ֤מְתִּֽי

and the moon

wə·hay·yā·rê·aḥ,

וְהַיָּרֵ֗חַ

kō·w·ḵā·ḇîm,

כּֽוֹכָבִ֔ים

miš·ta·ḥă·wîm

מִֽשְׁתַּחֲוִ֖ים

And he told [it]

his brothers

and rebuked him

way·yiḡ·‘ar-

you have dreamed

ḥā·lā·mə·tā;

and your mother

wə·’im·mə·ḵā

and your brothers

wə·’a·ḥe·ḵā,

lə·hiš·ta·ḥă·wōṯ

לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹ֥ת

to the earth

and envied him

וַיְקַנְאוּ־

his brothers

but his father

way·yê·lə·ḵū

his brothers

of their father

your brothers

and I will send you

wə·’eš·lā·ḥă·ḵā

וְאֶשְׁלָחֲךָ֣

whether it be well

with your brothers

with the flocks

and bring me

wa·hă·ši·ḇê·nî

וַהֲשִׁבֵ֖נִי

So he sent him

way·yiš·lā·ḥê·hū

וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֙הוּ֙

out of the valley

and found him

way·yim·ṣā·’ê·hū

וַיִּמְצָאֵ֣הוּ

[he was] wandering

in the field

and asked him

way·yiš·’ā·lê·hū

וַיִּשְׁאָלֵ֧הוּ

תְּבַקֵּֽשׁ׃

They are departed

I heard them

שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙

dō·ṯā·yə·nāh;

his brothers

and found them

way·yim·ṣā·’êm

וַיִּמְצָאֵ֖ם

when they saw

and even before

he came near

they conspired

way·yiṯ·nak·kə·lū

וַיִּֽתְנַכְּל֥וּ

la·hă·mî·ṯōw.

לַהֲמִיתֽוֹ׃

And they said

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ

of the dream

ha·ḥă·lō·mō·wṯ

and let us slay him

wə·na·har·ḡê·hū,

וְנַֽהַרְגֵ֗הוּ

and cast him

wə·naš·li·ḵê·hū

וְנַשְׁלִכֵ֙הוּ֙

hab·bō·rō·wṯ,

and we will say

wə·’ā·mar·nū

וְאָמַ֕רְנוּ

has devoured him

’ă·ḵā·lā·ṯə·hū;

אֲכָלָ֑תְהוּ

and we shall see

of his dreams

ḥă·lō·mō·ṯāw.

חֲלֹמֹתָֽיו׃

וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע

and he delivered him

way·yaṣ·ṣi·lê·hū

וַיַּצִּלֵ֖הוּ

out of their hands

תִּשְׁפְּכוּ־

הַשְׁלִ֣יכוּ

in the wilderness

bam·miḏ·bār,

בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר

תִּשְׁלְחוּ־

to the end that

he might rid

out of their hands

to restore him

la·hă·šî·ḇōw

לַהֲשִׁיב֖וֹ

And it came to pass

his brothers

that they stripped

way·yap̄·šî·ṭū

וַיַּפְשִׁ֤יטוּ

of his tunic

kut·tā·nə·tōw,

כֻּתָּנְתּ֔וֹ

of [many] colors

And they took him

way·yiq·qā·ḥu·hū,

וַיִּ֨קָּחֻ֔הוּ

way·yaš·li·ḵū

וַיַּשְׁלִ֥כוּ

and the pit [was]

wə·hab·bō·wr

And they sat down

way·yê·šə·ḇū

וַיֵּשְׁבוּ֮

and they lifted up

וַיִּשְׂא֤וּ

of Ishmaelites

yiš·mə·‘ê·lîm,

יִשְׁמְעֵאלִ֔ים

mig·gil·‘āḏ;

and with their camels

ū·ḡə·mal·lê·hem

וּגְמַלֵּיהֶ֣ם

to bring them

miṣ·rā·yə·māh.

מִצְרָֽיְמָה׃

his brothers

wə·ḵis·sî·nū

וְכִסִּ֖ינוּ

and let us sell him

wə·nim·kə·ren·nū

וְנִמְכְּרֶ֣נּוּ

to the Ishmaelites

lay·yiš·mə·‘ê·lîm,

לַיִּשְׁמְעֵאלִ֗ים

and our hand

And were content

way·yiš·mə·‘ū

וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֖וּ

his brothers

Then there passed by

way·ya·‘aḇ·rū

וַיַּֽעַבְרוּ֩

and they drew

way·yim·šə·ḵū

וַֽיִּמְשְׁכוּ֙

and lifted up

way·ya·‘ă·lū

וַיַּֽעֲל֤וּ

way·yim·kə·rū

וַיִּמְכְּר֧וּ

to the Ishmaelites

lay·yiš·mə·‘ê·lîm

לַיִּשְׁמְעֵאלִ֖ים

בְּעֶשְׂרִ֣ים

[pieces] of silver

and they brought

way·yā·ḇî·’ū

וַיָּבִ֥יאוּ

miṣ·rā·yə·māh.

מִצְרָֽיְמָה׃

And returned

Joseph [was]

And he returned

his brothers

The child [is]

And they took

way·yiš·ḥă·ṭū

וַֽיִּשְׁחֲטוּ֙

a young goat

of the goats

way·yiṭ·bə·lū

וַיִּטְבְּל֥וּ

hak·kut·tō·neṯ

הַכֻּתֹּ֖נֶת

in the blood

And they sent

way·šal·lə·ḥū

וַֽיְשַׁלְּח֞וּ

of [many] colors

hap·pas·sîm,

and they brought [it]

way·yā·ḇî·’ū

וַיָּבִ֙יאוּ֙

their father

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ

have we found

hak·kə·ṯō·neṯ

whether it [be]

And he knew it

way·yak·kî·rāh

וַיַּכִּירָ֤הּ

the coat [is]

has devoured him

’ă·ḵā·lā·ṯə·hū;

אֲכָלָ֑תְהוּ

is torn in pieces

שִׂמְלֹתָ֔יו

on his loins

bə·mā·ṯə·nāw;

בְּמָתְנָ֑יו

way·yiṯ·’ab·bêl

וַיִּתְאַבֵּ֥ל

way·yā·qu·mū

his daughers

to comfort him

lə·na·ḥă·mōw,

but he refused

to be comforted

lə·hiṯ·na·ḥêm,

לְהִתְנַחֵ֔ם

I will go down

into the grave

the Midianites

wə·ham·mə·ḏā·nîm,

וְהַ֨מְּדָנִ֔ים

lə·p̄ō·w·ṭî·p̄ar

לְפֽוֹטִיפַר֙

of the guard

haṭ·ṭab·bā·ḥîm.
