my messenger

and he shall prepare

and shall suddenly

his temple me

and the Lord

מְבַקְשִׁ֗ים

and even the messenger

of the covenant

he shall come

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ.

of His coming

when he appears

bə·hê·rā·’ō·w·ṯōw;

בְּהֵרָֽאוֹת֑וֹ

he [is like}

of a refiner

mə·ḵab·bə·sîm.

מְכַבְּסִֽים׃

And he shall sit

[as] a refiner

and purifier

and he shall purify

wə·ḵak·kā·sep̄;

they may offer

that they may offer

in righteousness

בִּצְדָקָֽה׃

and then shall be pleasant

wə·‘ā·rə·ḇāh

Then shall the offering

wî·rū·šā·lim;

וִירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

as in the days

וּכְשָׁנִ֖ים

as in former

qaḏ·mō·nî·yō·wṯ.

קַדְמֹנִיּֽוֹת׃

And I will come near

wə·qā·raḇ·tî

וְקָרַבְתִּ֣י

for judgment

לַמִּשְׁפָּט֒

and I will be

וְהָיִ֣יתִי ׀

I will be a swift

against the sorcerers

bam·ḵaš·šə·p̄îm

בַּֽמְכַשְּׁפִים֙

and against the adulterers

ū·ḇam·nā·’ă·p̄îm,

וּבַמְנָ֣אֲפִ֔ים

and swearers

ū·ḇan·niš·bā·‘îm

וּבַנִּשְׁבָּעִ֖ים

against false

against those who oppress

ū·ḇə·‘ō·šə·qê

וּבְעֹשְׁקֵ֣י

the [his] in wages

that the fatherless

the stranger

do [from his right] and fear me

yə·rê·’ū·nî,

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ.

therefore you

From the days

of your fathers

’ă·ḇō·ṯê·ḵem

you are gone away

from My statutes

שְׁמַרְתֶּ֔ם

[them] Return

and I will return

wə·’ā·šū·ḇāh

וְאָשׁ֣וּבָה

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ;

But you said

wa·’ă·mar·tem

וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֖ם

shall we return

wa·’ă·mar·tem

וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֖ם

have we robbed

qə·ḇa·‘ă·nū·ḵā;

קְבַעֲנ֑וּךָ

thee? In tithes

ham·ma·‘ă·śêr

הַֽמַּעֲשֵׂ֖ר

and offerings

wə·hat·tə·rū·māh.

וְהַתְּרוּמָֽה׃

with a curse

bam·mə·’ê·rāh

בַּמְּאֵרָה֙

[are] cursed

[even] nation me

ham·ma·‘ă·śêr

הַֽמַּעֲשֵׂ֜ר

into the storehouse

hā·’ō·w·ṣār,

that there may be

and prove me

ū·ḇə·ḥā·nū·nî

וּבְחָנ֤וּנִי

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ;

’ă·rub·bō·wṯ

haš·šā·ma·yim,

הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

and pour you out

wa·hă·rî·qō·ṯî

וַהֲרִיקֹתִ֥י

[be room] enough

And I will rebuke

wə·ḡā·‘ar·tî

וְגָעַרְתִּ֤י

the devourer

of your ground

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh;

cast her fruit before the time

shall your vine

in the field

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ.

and shall call you blessed

wə·’iš·šə·rū

וְאִשְּׁר֥וּ

hag·gō·w·yim;

a delightful

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ.

have been stout

Your words me

דִּבְרֵיכֶ֖ם

and Yet you say

wa·’ă·mar·tem

וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֕ם

have we spoken

נִּדְבַּ֖רְנוּ

[is] It vain

[is it] we have kept

שָׁמַ֙רְנוּ֙

his judgment

miš·mar·tōw,

מִשְׁמַרְתּ֔וֹ

we have walked

qə·ḏō·ran·nîṯ,

קְדֹ֣רַנִּ֔ית

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ.

mə·’aš·šə·rîm

מְאַשְּׁרִ֣ים

they who work

[they that] test

and are even delivered

way·yim·mā·lê·ṭū.

וַיִּמָּלֵֽטוּ׃

for those who feared

and listened

וַיַּקְשֵׁ֤ב

way·yiš·mā‘,

וַיִּשְׁמָ֔ע

and was written [it]

way·yik·kā·ṯêḇ

וַ֠יִּכָּתֵב

of remembrance

zik·kā·rō·wn

for those who fear

that thought

ū·lə·ḥō·šə·ḇê

וּלְחֹשְׁבֵ֖י

And they shall be

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,

and I will spare

wə·ḥā·mal·tî

וְחָמַלְתִּ֣י

and Then shall you return

וְשַׁבְתֶּם֙

ū·rə·’î·ṯem,

the righteous

do that serves
