I saw through, saw asunder, Ar. Eq. 768, cj. in Aen.Tact. 4.2 (cf. διαπίμπρημι); split, κύμινον Jul. Caes. 312a: — Pass., Hp. VC 21; -πεπρισμένα [ξύλα] SIG 2587.304; διαπεπρισμένα ἡμίσε'.. ὡσπερεὶ τὰ σύμβολα Eub. 70: metaph., διεπρίοντο ταῖς καρδίαις Acts 7:54; cf. Acts 5:33; also εἰς πλείω δ. τὴν Παλαιστίνην Lib. 334.

The literal sense of this word is seen in Syll 587.160, .304 (B.C. 329–8), Michel 594.107 (B.C. 279) ξύλον διαπρίσαντι Θεοδήμωι. For the subst. cf. the Delphic inscr. in BCH xxvi. p. 92.8 ξύλων [Μ ]ακεδον [ικῶν με ]σόδμᾶν διαπρίωσ [ιος : Herwerden compares διαπρίωτος in Hippocrates.
