In a marriage-contract of A.D. 170 provision is made that in the event of a separation taking place the dowry shall be repaid ἐν ἡμέραις ἑξήκοντα ἀ [φ᾽ ἧ ]ς ̣ ἐ ̣[ὰν ἡ ἀ ]παλλαγὴ γένηται (P Oxy VI. 905.13 = Selections, p. 87). The editors note that ";in Roman marriage-contracts thirty days is a commoner limit."; According to Thumb (Handbook, p. 328) ἑξήντα δυό, ";sixty-two,"; in MGr denotes an indefinitely large number.
