συνεπιμαρτυρέω, συνεπιμαρτύρω, participle genitive singular masculine συνεπιμαρτυροῦντος; to attest together with; to join in bearing witness, to unite in adding testimony: Hebrews 2:4. (Aristotle, Polybius, (Plutarch), Athen., Sextus Empiricus; Clement of Rome, 1 Cor. 23, 5 [ET]; 43, 1 [ET].)

STRONGS NT 4901a: συνεπιτίθημι συνεπιτίθημι: 2 aorist middle συνεπεθεμην; to place upon (or near) together with, help in putting on; middle to attack jointly, to assail together, set upon with (see ἐπιτίθημι, 2 b.): Acts 24:9 G L T Tr WH (R. V. joined in the charge) (so in Thucydides 6, 10; Xenophon, Cyril 4, 2, 3; Plato, Phileb., p. 16 a.; Polybius 5, 78, 4; Diodorus 1, 21).

For τάγμα = ";company,"; ";troop"; in a military sense, see BGU IV. 1190.15 (late Ptol.) ]κ τοῦ τ ̣α ̣γ ̣μ ̣α ̣τ ̣ο ̣ς ̣ α ̣ ̣τοῦ : cf. 1 Corinthians 15:23 and Epicurus I. 71 φύσεως καθ᾽ ἑαυτὰ τάγμα ἔχοντα, ";having in themselves a place in the ranks of material existence"; (Bailey). Other exx. of the word are P Oxy IX. 1202.18 (A.D. 217) my son being ἐκ τοῦ τάγματος τοῦ παρ᾽ ἡμεῖν γυμνασίου, ";on the roll of the gymnasium,"; ib. X. 1252 verso.24 (A.D. 288–95) τὸ τάγμα τὸ τῶν γυμνασιάρχων, and ib.
