συντυγχάνω, fut. -τεύξομαι Hsch., Phot., Suid.: aor. 2 συνέτῠχον: pf. -τέτευχα Chrysipp.Stoic. 2.174, PTeb. 22.3 (ii B.C.):
I of persons, meet with, fall in with, τινι Hdt. 4.14, Ar. Nu. 608 (troch.), PTeb. l.c., etc.; so μοίρᾳ τοῦδ' ἐχθίονι ς. S. Ph. 682 (lyr.); ς. νεκροῖς ἀσπαίρουσι Antipho 2.4.5; ξυνέτυχεν ἐξιόντι μοι ἄνθρωπος ἀποφράς Eup. 309: abs., S. OT 122; but οἱ συντυγχάνοντες, of two persons meeting, Hdt. 1.134, cf. Pl. Ti. 56d.
2. rarely c. gen., like the simple verb, συντυχὼν κακῶν ἀνδρῶν perh. having like others met with evil men, S. Ph. 320 (σὺντυχὼν Paley), cf. OC 1482 codd. (lyr., σοῦ τύχοιμι Cobet).
3. ὁ συντυχών the first that meets one, ὁ αἰεὶ ξυντυχών E. Hec. 1182 (also without ὁ, Id. Rh. 864): rarely in pres., ὁ συντυγχάνων Pl. Lg. 762c: also of things, τὸ συντυχόν the first that comes to hand, average, οὐ τὸ ς. ἔργον Hdt. 1.51; πᾶν τὸ ς. ἡδέως ἤσθιεν X. Ages. 9.3.
II of accidents and chances, happen to, befall, τὰ συντυχόντα σφι Hdt. 8.136; ὅσα δεῖ χώρᾳ συντυχεῖν Pl. Lg. 709c: abs., happen, fall out, εὖ ξυντυχόντων if things go well, A. Th. 274; πᾶν τὸ συντυχὸν πάθος S. Aj. 313; ὁ ξ. κίνδυνος Th. 3.59; πρὸς τὰ ς. according to circumstances, Plu. Oth. 13, cf. 9: impers. συνετύγχανε, συνέτυχε, it happened that.., c. inf., Th. 7.70, Plb. 15.4.5, Plu. Lys. 12, Pel. 18; συνέτυχε οὕτως, ὥστε.. Aristeas 307: c. part., ἡ οὐσία συντέτευχε τὸν μέσον κατειληφυῖα τόπον Chrysipp. l.c.
συντυγχάνω: 2 aorist infinitive συντυχεῖν; from (Sophocles), Herodotus down; to meet with, come to (A. V. come at) one: with a dative of the person, Luke 8:19.
