גְּמוּל m.

(1)  action, work, any thing well or ill done, more fully גְּמוּל יָדַיִם Judges 9:16; Proverbs 12:14; Isaiah 3:11 in a good sense, a benefit, Psalms 103:2. הֵשִׁיב גְּמוּלוֹ לְ to repay actions to any one, i.e. his deeds. Psalms 28:4, הָשֵׁב גְּמוּלָם לָהֶם; Proverbs 12:14 followed by עַל Psalms 94:2. שִׁלֵּם גְּמוּל לְ id. Psalms 137:8; Proverbs 19:17 followed by עַל Joel 4:4.

(2) retribution, recompense, Isaiah 35:4. Root גָּמַל.
