גָּלוּת once גָּלֻת Obadiah 1:20 (with Kametz impure), f. [root גָּלָה.]

(1) a carrying away, exile, 2 Kings 25:27; Jeremiah 52:31; Ezekiel 1:2, 33:21.

(2) collect. those who are carried away, exiles. גָּלוּת יְהוּדָה “the exiles of Judah,” Jeremiah 24:5, 28:4 29:22 40:1 גָּלוּת יְהֹוָה used of Israel living in exile, Isaiah 45:13.

גָּלוּת emph. גָּלוּתָא f., Ch. exile, בְּנֵי גָלוּתָא exiles; Daniel 2:25, 5:13 Ezra 6:16. Syr. ܓܳܠܘܽܬܐܳ.
