חֵשֶׁב m. the girdle of the high priest, with which his אֵפוֹד was bound together, Exodus 29:5; Leviticus 8:7 fully expressed חֵשֶׁב הָאֵפוֹד Exodus 28:27, 28 Exodus 28:28, 39:20, 21 Exodus 39:21 חֵשֶׁב אֲפֻדָּתוֹ Exodus 28:8, 39:5. So called from its woven work of various colours (see the root No. 1).
