טָעַם
(1) to taste (as in all the cognate languages)
(a) to try the flavour, Job 12:11.
(b) to taste, to eat a little, 1 Samuel 14:24, 29 1 Samuel 14:29, 43 1 Samuel 14:43; Jonah 3:7.
(c) to perceive by the taste or flavour, 2 Samuel 19:36. Metaph.
(2) to perceive mentally [or spiritually], Proverbs 31:18. Psalms 34:9, טַעֲמוּ וּרְאוּ כִּי־טוֹב יְהֹוָה “taste (perceive) and see that Jehovah is good.”
Hence the words immediately following, and מַטְעַמִּים.
