אָנַן not used in Kal; Ch. אֲנַן to be sad, sorrowful, to mourn; Arab. أَنَّ to groan.

Hithpoel הִתְאוֹנֵן prop. to shew oneself sad; hence, to complain, Lamentations 3:39 with the added notion of impiety, Numbers 11:1.
