עָמֵל m. verbal adj.
(1) labouring, especially with weariness and exhaustion, often used with personal pronouns for the finite verb, Ecclesiastes 2:22, 4:8 9:9 hence an artizan, Judges 5:26.
(2) sorrowful, wretched, Job 3:20, 20:22.
