Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

תְּרַע Ch. i.q. שַׁעַר.

(1)  a gate, mouth, as of a furnace, Daniel 3:26.

(2) the gate of the king, i.e. the royal court, as being surrounded by a wall, into which there was only one entrance, Daniel 2:49 comp. שַׁעַר Esther 2:19. Arab. باب, Turk. قبو Kapu, used of the court of the Chalifs and Turkish emperors, αἱ θύραι, used of the Persian court, Xenoph. Cyrop., i. 3 § 2, viii. 3 § 2, 11, and vi. § 7. (Syr. ܬܰܪܥܙܳ, Arab. تُرْعَةُ entrance, door. To this answers Sanscr. dvara, whence both the Gr. θύρα, and Lat. fores. Pers. در).
