בָּזָה i.q. בּוּז to despise, to contemn, pr. to trample with the feet, see בּוּז, בּוּס. Constr. followed by an acc. Numbers 15:31; Psalms 22:25, 102:18 more rarely followed by לְ 2 Samuel 6:16, and (suitably to the etymology) עַל Nehemiah 2:19. Opp. to כִּבֵּד 1 Samuel 2:30. Proverbs 19:16, בּוֹזֶה דְרָכָיו “he who makes light of (i.e. neglects) his course of living.” Esther 3:6, וַיִּבֶז בְּעֵינָיו לְשַׁלַּח יָד “and he despised, to lay hand;” Psalms 73:20.
