Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

מְרַאֲשׁוֹת pl. f. (denom. from רֹאשׁ), pr. that which is at any one’s head, opp. to מַרְגְּלוֹת that which is at the feet. It becomes a prep. at the head of any one, with suff. מְרַאֲשֹׁתָיו at his head, 1 Samuel 19:13, 26:7, 11 1 Samuel 26:11, 16 1 Samuel 26:16; 1 Kings 19:6 under his head, Genesis 28:11, 18 Genesis 28:18. It is followed by a noun in the gen. 1 Samuel 26:12, מֵרַאֲשׁוֹתֵי שָׁאוּל “at the head of Saul,” perhaps for מִמְרַאֲשֹׁתֵי Mem being omitted (unless the true reading be מְרַאֲשׁוֹתֵי), with a double plur. termination; see Hebr. Gramm. § 86, 4, note.
