[שָׁלָה, שָׁלֵו] verb be quiet, at ease ( Sirach 47:13 שלוה prosperity, Sirach 41:1 c שליו prosperous, at ease; be tranquil, quiet, ceaee; ᵑ7שְׁלָא, שְׁלי be at ease, then be careless, thoughtless, go astray [for Hebrew שָׁגָה, שָׁגַג] Aph`el neglect (God, etc.), Biblical Aramaic ᵑ7שָׁלוּ error; Arabic () be. forgetful, neglectful, content, free (from anxiety)); —

Qal 1. be, (have) quiet: Perfect 1 singular שָׁלַיְתִּי Job 3:26.

2 be at ease, prosper, of wicked, 3 plural שָׁלוּ Jeremiah 12:1; Lamentations 1:5, also Imperfect 3 masculine plural יִשְׁלָ֫יוּ (Ges§ 75u) Job 12:5, and (of good) Psalm 122:6 (יֵ֫שֶׁל Job 27:8 see II. שׁלח).

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

שָׁלַו to be safe, secure, especially used of one who securely enjoys prosperity, Job 3:26, 12:6 Psalms 122:6. Pret. שָׁלַוְתִּי Job loc. cit., fut. יִשְׁלָיוּ. (Arab. سَلاَ to be tranquil and secure in mind. Kindred roots are סָלָה and שָׂלָה, and branches from the same stock are found in the Indo-Germanic languages, both in the sense of quiet and silence, and in that of welfare, as σχόλη, quiet, ease, Lat. sileo=סָלָה, and salv-us, salu-s.)
