And Esau returned on his way toward Seir that day.

And Jacob traveled to Succoth. And he built himself a house, and made booths for his livestock. For this reason he called the name of the place Succoth.

And he bought that part of the field where he had pitched his tent, from the hand of the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, for a hundred pieces of money.

And his soul clung to Dinah, the daughter of Jacob. And he loved the girl, and spoke to the heart of the girl.

And Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, Take this girl for me for a wife.

And Jacob heard that he had defiled his daughter Dinah. And his sons were with his livestock in the field. And Jacob kept silent until they had come.

And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and his father Hamor, speaking with deceit because he had defiled their sister Dinah.

And the young man did not hesitate to do the thing, for he delighted in Jacob's daughter. And he was more honorable than all the house of his father.

And Hamor and his son Shechem came to the gate of their city. And they spoke with the men of their city, saying,

And all those going out of the gate of the city listened to Hamor, and to his son Shechem. And every male was circumcised, all those going out of the gate of the city.

And it happened on the third day, they being pained, that the two sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, each took his sword. And they came on the city in its security, and killed every male.

And they killed Hamor and his son Shechem with the sword. And they took Dinah from the house of Shechem, and went out.

And Jacob said to his house, and to all those with him, Put away the strange gods in your midst, and purify yourselves, and change your clothing.

And he built an altar there and called the place Elbethel; because God revealed Himself to him there when he fled from the face of his brother.

And God said to him, Your name is Jacob; your name will not any more be called Jacob, but Israel will be your name. And He called his name Israel.

And it happened, when her soul was going forth (for she died) even she called his name Benoni. But his father called him Benjamin.

And Israel pulled up stakes and pitched his tent beyond the Tower of the Flocks.

And it happened after Israel lived in that land, even Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father's concubine. And Israel heard. And the sons of Jacob were twelve.

And Jacob came to his father Isaac, to Mamre, to the City of Arba; it is Hebron where Abraham and Isaac resided.

And Isaac expired and died and was gathered to his people, old and satisfied of days. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
