Lo, these are merely parts of his ways; and what evil thing have we heard against him? And the greatness of his might who can understand?

MOREOVER Job continued his parable, and said,

For though he has accumulated riches, what is the hope of the godless at the time when God takes away his life?

For God will not hear his prayer when trouble comes upon him.

For the wicked has built his house upon a spiders web, and like a booth he had made his shelter.

The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not rise again; he opens his eyes, and he is gone.

The east wind shall carry him away in the night, and he is gone; and shall hurl him out of his place.

For God shall cast him out without pity, and he cannot escape out of his hand.

He shall smite him with his hand, and shall hiss against him from his dwelling place.

The miner puts forth his hand upon the hard rock to break it; he overturns the mountains from their foundations.

He divides the rivers by his might; and his eye sees every precious thing.

MOREOVER Job continued his parable, and said,

When he put his worship high upon my head, when his lamp shone over me; and when by his light I walked through darkness.

And I broke the jaws of the wicked, and snatched the prey out of his teeth.

I searched out their ways, and then returned and dwelt as a king in his army, like one who comforts the mourners.

They were forced by bare necessities, like a thief swept off his feet,

But he will not stretch out his hand against me, and when I cry to him he will save me.

If I have withheld the poor from his desire, or have defrauded the widow,

My friends said, Oh this man would give us even of his own flesh! but we are not satisfied,

Then Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was angry; so his wrath against Job kindled, because he justified himself more than God.
