For the sake of your servant David,do not reject your anointed one.

For the Lord has chosen Zion;he has desired it for his home:

I will clothe its priests with salvation,and its faithful people will shout for joy.

There I will make a horn grow for David;I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one.

Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;sing praise to his name, for it is delightful.

For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself,Israel as his treasured possession.

For I know that the Lord is great;our Lord is greater than all gods.

He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth.He makes lightning for the rainand brings the wind from his storehouses.

For the Lord will vindicate his peopleand have compassion on his servants.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.

for our captors there asked us for songs,and our tormentors, for rejoicing:“Sing us one of the songs of Zion.”

They will sing of the Lord’s ways,for the Lord’s glory is great.

The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me.Lord, your faithful love endures forever;do not abandon the work of your hands.

For it was you who created my inward parts;you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

The proud hide a trap with ropes for me;they spread a net along the pathand set snares for me.Selah

I say to the Lord, “You are my God.”Listen, Lord, to my cry for help.

I know that the Lord upholdsthe just cause of the poor,justice for the needy.

Lord, set up a guard for my mouth;keep watch at the door of my lips.

Let the righteous one strike me—it is an act of faithful love;let him rebuke me—it is oil for my head;let me not refuse it.Even now my prayer is againstthe evil acts of the wicked.

When their rulers will be thrown offthe sides of a cliff,the people will listen to my words,for they are pleasing.
