Simon Peter was still standing and warming himself. So they asked him, "Aren't you also one of His disciples?" He denied it and said, "I am not."

Then they led Jesus away from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. By now it was early morning, and the Jews did not enter the Praetorium to avoid being defiled and unable to eat the Passover.

And they went up to Him again and again, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" and slapping Him in the face.

As soon as the chief priests and officers saw Him, they shouted, "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!" "You take Him and crucify Him," Pilate replied, "for I find no basis for a charge against Him."

There they crucified Him, and with Him two others, one on each side, with Jesus in the middle.

So they said to one another, "Let us not tear it. Instead, let us cast lots to see who will get it." This was to fulfill the Scripture: "They divided My garments among them, and cast lots for My clothing." So that is what the soldiers did.

A jar of sour wine was sitting there. So they soaked a sponge in the wine, put it on a stalk of hyssop, and lifted it to His mouth.

But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.

And, as another Scripture says: "They will look on the One they have pierced."

So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the Jewish burial custom.

And because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb," she said, "and we do not know where they have put Him!"

"Woman, why are you weeping?" they asked. "Because they have taken my Lord away," she said, "and I do not know where they have put Him."

After He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Simon Peter told them, "I am going fishing." "We will go with you," they said. So they went out and got into the boat, but caught nothing that night.

He told them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast it there, and they were unable to haul it in because of the great number of fish.

When they landed, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish on it, and some bread.

And while they were gathered together, He commanded them: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift the Father promised, which you have heard Me discuss.

After He had said this, they watched as He was taken up, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.

When they arrived, they went to the upper room where they were staying: Peter and John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.
