And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be blessed." Genesis 12:3; Genesis 18:18; Genesis 22:18; Genesis 26:4; Genesis 28:14">[fn]

But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." Habakkuk 2:4">[fn]

And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, [fn] that it should make the promise of no effect.

For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.

Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born [fn] of a woman, born under the law,

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"

Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of [fn] God through Christ.

But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods.

But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?

And my trial which was in my flesh you did not despise or reject, but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

envy, murders, [fn] drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [fn] the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.
