And Jesus stood, and directed him to be called. And they called the blind man, and said to him: Take courage: arise, he calleth thee.

And as they approached Jerusalem, near by Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

And they went, and they found the colt tied, by the door, without in the street. And as they were loosing [fn] ,

And they said to them, as Jesus had commanded them; and they permitted them.

And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments upon him, and set Jesus upon him.

And he said to it: Henceforth and for ever, let no man eat fruit from thee: and the disciples heard it. And they came to Jerusalem.

And the chief priests and the Scribes heard [fn] , and they sought how they might destroy him; for they were afraid of him, because all the people admired his doctrine.

And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig-tree dried up, as it were, from its root.

And they came again to Jerusalem. And as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests and Scribes and Elders came to him,

And they reasoned with themselves, and said: If we should say to him, From heaven; he will say to us, Why then did ye not believe him?

And they answered, and said to Jesus: We do not know. He said to them: Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

And they beat him, and sent him away empty.

And again he sent to them another servant; and him also they stoned, and wounded, and sent him away under indignities.

And again he sent another; and him they killed. And he sent many other servants, some of whom they beat, and some they killed.

At last, having an only and dear son, he sent him to them; for he said, Perhaps they will respect my son.

And they took him, and slew [fn] , and cast [fn] out of the vineyard.

And they sought to apprehend him, but were afraid of the people; for they knew that he spoke this similitude against them. And they left him, and went away.

And they sent to him some of the Scribes and of the household of Herod, to ensnare him in discourse.

And they brought [fn] to him. And he said to them: Whose is this image and inscription? They said to him: Caesar's.

17 Jesus said to them: What is Caesar's, give to Caesar; and what is God's, [fn] to God. And they wondered at him.
