And they fell upon their faces and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and shall the wrath come upon all the congregation?

And the people quarreled with Moses and with Aaron, saying, Would God that we had died with the death with which our brethren died before the LORD!

And the people murmured against God and against Moses, saying, Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For neither is there bread, nor water; and our soul is wearied with this inferior bread (manna).

And God came to Balaam and said to him, Who are these men that are with you?

And Balaam said to God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent to me, saying,

And God said to Balaam, You shall not go with them; and you shall not curse the people; for they are blessed.

And Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not transgress against the word of the LORD my God, neither concerning a small matter nor concerning a great matter.

And God came to Balaam at night and said to him, If these men have come to call you, rise up and go with them; but only the word which I shall say to you, that shall you do.

And Balaam said to Balak, Lo, I have come to you; have I now any power at all to say anything? The word that God puts in my mouth, that shall I speak.

And God appeared to Balaam and said to him, You have prepared seven altars, and have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram.

How can I curse whom God has not cursed? How can I destroy whom the LORD has not destroyed?

God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should be given counsel; he speaks and he shall do it, and his word abides for ever.

I do not behold iniquity in Jacob, neither have I seen malice in Israel; the LORD his God is with him, and the glory of his King is among them.

God brought them out of Egypt with his might and excellency.

For there is no augury in Jacob, neither is there any divination in Israel; according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What has God wrought!

And Balak said to Balaam, Come, I will take you to another place; perhaps it will please God that you may curse them for me from there.

And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel encamping, tribe by tribe; and the spirit of God came upon him.

He has said, who heard the word of God, who saw the vision of God, falling into a trance but having his eyes open:

The God who brought them forth out of Egypt with his might and excellency, he shall devour the nations that are their enemies, and shall break their bones in pieces, and cut off their loins.
