Blessed are you, O land, when your king is the son of a noble and your princes eat in due time, for strength and not for drunkenness!

Bread and wine are made for joy, and oil makes life merry; but money brings one low and causes him to go astray in all things.

Do not curse the king, no not even in your thought; and do not curse the rich in your bedchamber; for a bird of the air shall carry your voice, and that which has wings shall tell the matter.

CAST your bread upon the waters; for you shall find it after many days.

Truly light is sweet, and it is a pleasant thing for the eyes; but much more to those who see the sun.

If a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that comes is vanity.

Rejoice, O young man, in your youth; and it shall be well with you; and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things the LORD will bring you into judgment.

Therefore remove anger from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh; for youth and ignorance are vanity.

For the LORD shall bring every work into judgment, concerning everything which is hidden and known, whether it be good or whether it be evil.

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth; for your love is better than wine.

We will make for you golden chains with studs of silver.

Sustain me with delicacies, surround me with apples; for I am sick for love.

For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;

O my dove, who nests in the clefts of the rock and in the secret places of the hedge, let me see your countenance, let me hear your voice; for sweet is your voice, and your countenance is comely.

Let us catch the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards, for our vines have tender shoots.

Your neck beneath your veil is like the tower of David, built for an armory, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all quivers of valiant men.

My beloved put in his hand by the opening of the door, and my heart was moved for him.
