Then he remembered the days of old, of Moses and his people. Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put in the midst of them his Holy Spirit,

who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, who divided the waters before them to make for himself an everlasting name,

You shall leave your name to my chosen for a curse, and the Lord God will put you to death, but his servants he will call by another name,

No more shall there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not fill out his days, for the young man shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed.

Hear the word of the Lord , you who tremble at his word: "Your brothers who hate you and cast you out for my name's sake have said, ‘Let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your joy'; but it is they who shall be put to shame.

"The sound of an uproar from the city! A sound from the temple! The sound of the Lord , rendering recompense to his enemies!

As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like the grass; and the hand of the Lord shall be known to his servants, and he shall show his indignation against his enemies.

"For behold, the Lord will come in fire, and his chariots like the whirlwind, to render his anger in fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

For by fire will the Lord enter into judgment, and by his sword, with all flesh; and those slain by the Lord shall be many.

The lions have roared against him; they have roared loudly. They have made his land a waste; his cities are in ruins, without inhabitant.

you say, ‘I am innocent; surely his anger has turned from me.' Behold, I will bring you to judgment for saying, ‘I have not sinned.'

"If a man divorces his wife and she goes from him and becomes another man's wife, will he return to her? Would not that land be greatly polluted? You have played the whore with many lovers; and would you return to me? declares the Lord .

A lion has gone up from his thicket, a destroyer of nations has set out; he has gone out from his place to make your land a waste; your cities will be ruins without inhabitant.

Behold, he comes up like clouds; his chariots like the whirlwind; his horses are swifter than eagles— woe to us, for we are ruined!

I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a desert, and all its cities were laid in ruins before the Lord , before his fierce anger.
