This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud,But gives grace to the humble." Proverbs 3:34 ">[fn]

Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your "Yes," be "Yes," and your "No," "No," lest you fall into judgment. [fn]

To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us [fn] they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things which angels desire to look into.

but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,

but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you

having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, [fn]

Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,

Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, [fn] "The stone which the builders rejectedHas become the chief cornerstone," Psalms 118:22 ">[fn]

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.

Isaiah 53:7-9">[xr] Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh.

For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.

who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;
