Watch out for people, for they will hand you over to the local councils and whip you in their synagogues.Matthew 24:9; Mark 13:9; Luke 12:11; 21:12; Acts 5:40;">[xr]

"How terrible it will be for you, Chorazin! How terrible it will be for you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that happened in you had taken place in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.Jonah 3:7-8;">[xr]

The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the judgment and will condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. But look - something greater than Jonah is here!Jeremiah 3:11; Ezekiel 16:51-52; Jonah 3:5; Luke 11:32; Romans 2:27;">[xr]

Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and settle there. And so the final condition of that person becomes worse than the first. That's just what will happen to this evil generation!"Hebrews 6:4; 10:26; 2 Peter 2:20-22;">[xr]

That's why I speak to them in parables, because 'they look but don't see, and they listen but don't hear or understand.'

For this people's heart has become dull,Hebrews 5:11;">[xr] and their ears are hard of hearing.they hear with ears of heaviness">[fn] They have shut their eyes so that they might not see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.'Isaiah 6:9-10">[fn]

The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom everything that causes others to sin and those who practice lawlessnessMatthew 18:7; 2 Peter 2:1-2;">[xr]
