And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and guardsmen and the guard of a thousand and all the men who were trained for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.

In the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, the commander of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, to Jerusalem;

And all the army of the Chaldeans who were with the commander of the guard broke down the walls of Jerusalem round about.

Now the rest of the people who were left in the city and the deserters who had gone over to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, Nebuzaradan, the commander of the guard, carried away to Babylon.

But Nebuzaradan, the commander of the guard, left some of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.

And the censers and the bowls, which were of gold and silver, and the cups, the commander of the guard took away.

And the commander of the guard took Sheriah the chief priest and Zephaniah the second priest and the three keepers of the door;

And Nebuzaradan, the commander of the guard, took these, and brought them to the king of Babylon at Diblath;

For these Levites were in their set office, and were in charge of the four gates in the four directions; and stood on guard, and were over the work and over the treasuries of the house of the LORD.

And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required; and the porters also by their courses, to guard the doors every day; for so had David the king of Israel, whom the LORD had made king, commanded.

Instead of which King Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard that kept the entrance of the kings house.

Hide them in the citadel of thy presence from the tumult of men; with thy shadow guard them from contention.
