John wore a dress of camel''s hair, with a girdle of leather fastened around his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey.

While he walked along the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother throwing their nets into the sea; for they were fishermen.

And when he went a little further, he saw James the son of Zebedee and his brother John; they also were in a boat mending their nets.

And they were amazed at his teaching; for he taught them as one with an authority, and not like their scribes.

And his fame immediately spread throughout the country of Galilee.

And he healed many who were seriously sick with divers diseases, and he restored many who were insane; and he did not allow the insane to speak because some of them were his acquaintances.

And there came to him a leper, who fell down at his feet, and begged him, saying, If you will, you can make me clean.

And Jesus had mercy on him, and stretched out his hand and touched him, and said, I am willing; be clean.

And in that hour his leprosy disappeared from him, and he became clean.

But Jesus perceived in his spirit that they were reasoning among themselves, and he said to them, Why do you reason these things in your heart?

And immediately he rose, and took up his quilt-bed and went out before the eyes of them all; and they were all amazed, and gave glory to God, saying, We have never seen anything like it.

And it happened that while he was a guest at his house, a great many publicans and sinners were also guests with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many, and they followed him.

And when the scribes and the Pharisees saw him eating with the publicans and sinners, they said to his disciples, Why does he eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

And it happened that while Jesus was going through the wheat fields on the sabbath, his disciples walked and pulled up the ears of wheat.

And he looked at them with anger, sad because of the hardness of their hearts; and he said to the man, Stretch out your hand, and he stretched it out; and his hand was restored.

So Jesus went to the sea with his disciples; and a great many people from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,

And he said to his disciples to bring the boat near to him, because of the crowds, so that they might not press on him.

And his relatives heard it, and went out to arrest him, for they said, He has lost his mind.

And if Satan rises up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but that is his end.
