But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private.

So Jesus answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me;

if any man's will is to do his will, he shall know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.

He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.

So they sought to arrest him; but no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come.

He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, 'Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.'"

They went each to his own house,

This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.

And once more he bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.

These words he spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple; but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.

You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

But you have not known him; I know him. If I said, I do not know him, I should be a liar like you; but I do know him and I keep his word.

As he passed by, he saw a man blind from his birth.

And his disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"

Jesus answered, "It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be made manifest in him.

Now it was a sabbath day when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes.

The Pharisees again asked him how he had received his sight. And he said to them, "He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see."

The Jews did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of the man who had received his sight,

His parents answered, "We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;

but how he now sees we do not know, nor do we know who opened his eyes. Ask him; he is of age, he will speak for himself."
