And not finding by what [way] they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his couch into the midst before Jesus.

And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his house, glorifying God.

And Levi made him a great feast in his house: and there was a great multitude of publicans and of others that were sitting at meat with them.

And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do you eat and drink with the publicans and sinners?

Now it came to pass on a Sabbath, that he was going through the grainfields; and his disciples plucked and ate the ears, rubbing them in their hands.

And it came to pass on another Sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man there, and his right hand was withered.

But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man that had his hand withered, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

And he looked round about on them all, and said to him, Stretch forth your hand. And he did [so]: and his hand was restored.

And when it was day, he called his disciples; and he chose from them twelve, whom also he named apostles:

Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew,

and he came down with them, and stood on a level place, and a great multitude of his disciples, and a great number of the people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon,

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed [are] you poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

The disciple is not above his teacher: but every one when he is perfected shall be as his teacher.

The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and the evil [man] out of the evil [treasure] brings forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

After he had ended all his sayings in the ears of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

And when he heard concerning Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him that he would come and save his slave.

And it came to pass soon afterward, that he went to a city called Nain; and his disciples went with him, and a great multitude.

Now when he drew near to the gate of the city, look, there was carried out one that was dead, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and many people of the city were with her.

And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.

And fear took hold on all: and they glorified God, saying, A great prophet has arisen among us: and, God has visited his people.
