And they smote his head with a reed, and spat on him, and bowing their knees worshiped him.

And when they had mocked him, they took off from him the purple, and put on him his garments. And they lead him out to crucify him.

And they compel one passing by, Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to go [with them], that he might bear his cross.

And they crucify him, and part his garments among them, casting lots on them, what each should take.

And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

And with him they crucify two robbers; one on his right hand, and one on his left.

But go, tell his disciples and Peter, He goes before you into Galilee: there you shall see him, as he said to you.

Now it came to pass, while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

according to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.

But the angel said to him, Don't be afraid, Zacharias: because your supplication is heard, and your wife Elizabeth shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

And you shall have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

And he shall go before his face in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient [to walk] in the wisdom of the just; to make ready for the Lord a people prepared [for him].

And it came to pass, when the days of his ministry were fulfilled, he departed to his house.

And after these days Elizabeth his wife conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,

And look, you shall conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name JESUS.

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give to him the throne of his father David:

and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

For he has looked on the low estate of his slave: For look, from now on all generations shall call me blessed.

For he that is mighty has done to me great things; And holy is his name.
