Only be on your guard and diligently watch yourselves, so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen, and so that they do not slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren.

The day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, the LORD said to me, "Gather the people before Me to hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach them to their children."

These are the testimonies, statutes, and ordinances Moses proclaimed to them after they had come out of Egypt,

while they were in the valley across the Jordan facing Beth-peor in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon and was defeated by Moses and the Israelites after they had come out of Egypt.

They took possession of his land and the land of Og king of Bashan-the two Amorite kings who were across the Jordan to the east-

And the LORD heard the words you spoke to me, and He said to me, "I have heard the words that these people have spoken to you. They have done well in all that they have spoken.

If only they had such a heart to fear Me and keep all My commandments always, so that it might be well with them and with their children forever.

because they will turn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods. Then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and He will swiftly destroy you.

But the LORD your God will give them over to you and throw them into great confusion, until they are destroyed.

and the LORD said to me, "Get up and go down from here at once, for your people whom you brought out of Egypt have corrupted themselves. How quickly they have turned aside from the way that I commanded them; they have made for themselves a molten image."

The LORD also said to me, "I have seen this people, and indeed, they are a stiff-necked people.

Let Me alone, so that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven. Then I will make you into a nation mightier and greater than they."

But they are Your people, Your inheritance, whom You brought out by Your great power and outstretched arm."

and I went back down the mountain and placed the tablets in the ark I had made, as the LORD had commanded me; and there they have remained.

From there they traveled to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land with streams of water.

At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to serve Him, and to pronounce blessings in His name, as they do to this day.

Then the LORD said to me, "Get up. Continue your journey ahead of the people, that they may enter and possess the land I swore to their fathers to give them."

what He did to the Egyptian army and horses and chariots when He made the waters of the Red Sea engulf them as they pursued you, and how He destroyed them completely, even to this day;

But whenever you wish, you may slaughter and eat meat within any of your gates, according to the blessing the LORD your God has given you. Those who are clean or unclean may eat it, as they would a gazelle or deer,

You must not worship the LORD your God in this way, because they practice for their gods every abomination which the LORD hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.
