He will afflict you again with all the diseases you dreaded in Egypt, and they will cling to you.

And the people will answer, 'It is because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.

They went and served other gods, and they worshiped gods they had not known-gods that the LORD had not given to them.

The LORD uprooted them from their land in His anger, rage, and great wrath, and He cast them into another land, where they are today.'

Assemble the people-men, women, children, and the foreigners within your gates-so that they may listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and follow carefully all the words of this law.

And the LORD said to Moses, "You will soon rest with your fathers, and these people will rise up and prostitute themselves with the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake Me and break the covenant I have made with them.

On that day My anger will burn against them, and I will abandon them and hide My face from them, so that they will be consumed, and many troubles and afflictions will befall them. On that day they will say, 'Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is no longer with us?'

And on that day I will surely hide My face because of all the evil they have done by turning to other gods.

When I have brought them into the land I swore to give their fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey, they will eat their fill and prosper. Then they will turn to other gods and worship them, and they will reject Me and break My covenant.

Remember the days of old; consider the years long past. Ask your father, and he will tell you, your elders, and they will inform you.

They will be wasted from hunger and ravaged by pestilence and bitter plague; I will send the fangs of wild beasts against them, with the venom of vipers that slither in the dust.

For they are not idle words to you, because they are your life, and by them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess."

Surely You love the people; all the holy ones are in Your hand, and they sit down at Your feet; each receives Your words-

Bless his substance, O LORD, and accept the work of his hands. Smash the loins of those who rise against him, and of his foes so they can rise no more."

They will call the peoples to a mountain; there they will offer sacrifices of righteousness. For they will feast on the abundance of the seas and the hidden treasures of the sand."

So they answered Joshua, "Everything you have commanded us we will do, and everywhere you send us we will go.

Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Acacia Grove, saying, "Go, inspect the land, especially Jericho." So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.

So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab and said, "Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, for they have come to spy out the whole land."

But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. So she said, "Yes, the men did come to me, but I did not know where they had come from.

At dusk, when the gate was about to close, the men went out, and I do not know which way they went. Pursue them quickly, and you may catch them!"
