While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was deeply disturbed in his spirit to see that the city was full of idols.

Then Paul stood up before the Areopagus and said, "Men of Athens, I see that in every way you are very religious.

After these things had happened, Paul resolved in the Spirit to go to Jerusalem after he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia. "After I have been there," he said, "I must see Rome as well."

And you can see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in nearly the whole province of Asia, Paul has persuaded a great number of people to turn away. He says that man-made gods are no gods at all.

Now I know that none of you among whom I have preached the kingdom will see my face again.

They were especially grieved by his statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.

The next day, Paul went in with us to see James, and all the elders were present.

When they heard this, they glorified God. Then they said to Paul, "You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law.

The father of Publius was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him, and after praying and placing his hands on him, he healed the man.

So for this reason I have called to see you and speak with you. It is because of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain."

For this people's heart has grown callous; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them.'

For I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you,

Furthermore, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, He gave them up to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.

But I see another law at work in my body, warring against the law of my mind and holding me captive to the law of sin that dwells within me.

For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see?

But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently.
