"Here is my servant, the one I have chosen. He is the one I love, and I am very pleased with him. I will fill him with my Spirit, and he will bring justice to the nations.

‘These people honor me with their words, but I am not really important to them.

Jesus answered, "You are blessed, Simon son of Jonah. No one taught you that. My Father in heaven showed you who I am.

While Peter was talking, a bright cloud came over them. A voice came from the cloud and said, "This is my Son, the one I love. I am very pleased with him. Obey him!"

Yes, if two or three people are together believing in me, I am there with them."

"But the man who owned the field said to one of them, ‘Friend, I am being fair with you. You agreed to work for one silver coin. Right?

I can do what I want with my own money. Why would you be jealous because I am generous?'

But after I am killed, I will rise from death. Then I will go into Galilee. I will be there before you go there."

Jesus said to Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, "My heart is so heavy with grief, I feel as if I am dying. Wait here and stay awake with me."

Pilate saw that there was nothing he could do to make the people change. In fact, it looked as if there would be a riot. So he took some water and washed his hands in front of them all. He said, "I am not guilty of this man's death. You are the ones who are doing it!"

He trusted God. So let God save him now, if God really wants him. He himself said, ‘I am the Son of God.'"

This is what John told the people: "There is someone coming later who is able to do more than I can. I am not good enough to be the slave who stoops down to untie his sandals.
