Blessed be the Lord , the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting." Then all the people said "Amen!" and praised the Lord .

Nathan said to David, "Do all that you have in mind, for God is with you."

Then King David went in and sat before the Lord , and said, "Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?

And even this was a small thing in your sight, O God; you have also spoken of your servant's house for a great while to come. You regard me as someone of high rank, O Lord God!

There is no one like you, O Lord , and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

Who is like your people Israel, one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem to be his people, making for yourself a name for great and terrible things, in driving out nations before your people whom you redeemed from Egypt?

And you made your people Israel to be your people forever; and you, O Lord , became their God.

Thus your name will be established and magnified forever in the saying, ‘The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, is Israel's God'; and the house of your servant David will be established in your presence.

For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him; therefore your servant has found it possible to pray before you.

And now, O Lord , you are God, and you have promised this good thing to your servant;

Be strong, and let us be courageous for our people and for the cities of our God; and may the Lord do what seems good to him."

But God was displeased with this thing, and he struck Israel.

David said to God, "I have sinned greatly in that I have done this thing. But now, I pray you, take away the guilt of your servant; for I have done very foolishly."

And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it; but when he was about to destroy it, the Lord took note and relented concerning the calamity; he said to the destroying angel, "Enough! Stay your hand." The angel of the Lord was then standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

And David said to God, "Was it not I who gave the command to count the people? It is I who have sinned and done very wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? Let your hand, I pray, O Lord my God, be against me and against my father's house; but do not let your people be plagued!"

but David could not go before it to inquire of God, for he was afraid of the sword of the angel of the Lord .

Then David said, "Here shall be the house of the Lord God and here the altar of burnt offering for Israel."

David gave orders to gather together the aliens who were residing in the land of Israel, and he set stonecutters to prepare dressed stones for building the house of God.

Then he called for his son Solomon and charged him to build a house for the Lord , the God of Israel.

David said to Solomon, "My son, I had planned to build a house to the name of the Lord my God.
