For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is not productive.

It's good for you to give thanks, but it does not build up the other person.

Tongues, then, are meant to be a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers, while prophecy is meant, not for unbelievers, but for believers.

For everyone can prophesy in turn, so that everyone can be instructed and everyone can be encouraged.

If they want to learn anything, they should ask their own husbands at home, for it is inappropriate for a woman to speak out in church.[fn]

Otherwise, what will those people do who are being baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are they being baptized for them?
