Great deliverance he gives to his king, And shows loving-kindness to his anointed, To David and to his seed, for evermore.

The Spirit of Yahweh spoke by me, And his word was on my tongue.

He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand cleaved to the sword; and Yahweh wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to take spoil.

And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was [of] the elite troops. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them, and had a name among the three.

And he slew a handsome Egyptian: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

He was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn't attain to the three. And David set him over his guard.

And David said to Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of Yahweh; for his mercies are great; and don't let me fall into the hand of man.

And when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Yahweh repented of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough; now stay your hand. And the angel of Yahweh was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

And Araunah looked forth, and saw the king and his slaves coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

And Araunah said, Why is my lord the king come to his slave? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor of you, to build an altar to Yahweh, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

And Araunah said to David, Let my lord the king take and offer up that which is good in his eyes: look, the oxen for the burnt-offering, and the threshing instruments and the yokes of the oxen for the wood:

Therefore his slaves said to him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and cherish him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.

And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why have you done so? and he was also a very goodly man; and he was born after Absalom.

And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's slaves:

but Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he did not call.

Otherwise it will come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.

And they told the king, saying, Look, Nathan the prophet. And when he came in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

As Yahweh has been with my lord the king, even so he shall be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.

And moreover the king's slaves came to bless our lord king David, saying, Your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne: and the king bowed himself on the bed.

And all the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.
