The nations rumble on like the rumbling of many waters,But He will rebuke them, and they will flee far away,And be pursued like chaff in the mountains before the wind,Or like whirling dust before a whirlwind.

And Yahweh will smite Egypt, smiting but healing; so they will return to Yahweh, and He will be moved by their entreaty and will heal them.

The watchman says,"Morning comes but also night.If you would inquire, inquire;Come back again."

But Yahweh of hosts revealed Himself in my ears,"Surely this iniquity shall not be atoned for youUntil you die," says Lord Yahweh of hosts.

And her gain and her harlot's wages will be set apart to Yahweh; it will not be treasured up or hoarded, but her gain will become sufficient food and choice attire for those who inhabit the presence of Yahweh.

From the ends of the earth we hear songs, "Glory to the Righteous One,"But I say, "I waste away! I waste away! Woe is me!The treacherous deal treacherously,And the treacherous deal very treacherously."

And he will spread out his hands in the middle of itAs a swimmer spreads out his hands to swim,But Yahweh will lay low his lofty pride together with the trickery of his hands.

O Yahweh our God, other masters besides You have ruled us;But through You alone we bring Your name to remembrance.

He who said to them, "Here is rest, give rest to the weary,"And, "Here is repose," but they would not listen.

For dill is not threshed with a threshing sledge,Nor is the wheel of a cart driven over cumin;But dill is beaten out with a staff, and cumin with a rod.

Grain for bread is crushed,But he does not continue to thresh it forever.Because the wheel of his cart and his horses eventually disturb it,He does not crush it longer.

But it will be that the multitude of your enemies will become like fine dust,And the multitude of the ruthless ones like the chaff which blows away;And it will happen instantly, suddenly.

And it will be as when a hungry man dreams—And behold, he is eating;But he awakens, and his soul is empty,Or as when a thirsty man dreams—And behold, he is drinking,But he awakens, and behold, he is faint,And his soul is not quenched.Thus the multitude of all the nations will beWho wage war against Mount Zion.

Astonish yourselves and be astonished,Blind yourselves and be blind;They become drunk, but not with wine;They stagger, but not with strong drink.

Then the Lord said,"Because this people draw near with their mouthAnd honor Me with their lips,But they remove their hearts far from Me,And their fear of Me is in the command of men learned by rote,

But when he sees his children, the work of My hands, in his midst,They will sanctify My name;Indeed, they will sanctify the Holy One of JacobAnd will stand trembling before the God of Israel.

"Woe to the rebellious children," declares Yahweh,"Who execute counsel, but not Mine,And make an alliance, but not of My Spirit,In order to add sin to sin,

Who go down to Egypt—But did not ask Me—To find strength in the strong defense of PharaohAnd to take refuge in the shadow of Egypt!

Everyone will be ashamed because of a people who cannot profit them,Who are not for help or profit, but for shame and also for reproach."

For thus Lord Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel, has said,"In repentance and rest you will be saved,In quietness and trust is your might."But you were not willing,
