The Lord has given you bread of distress and water of oppression; He, your Teacher will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes will see your Teacher.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for helpAnd rely on horses,And trust in chariots because they are manyAnd in horsemen because they are very mighty,But they do not regard at the Holy One of Israel, nor seek Yahweh!

Yet He also is wise and will bring about an evil demiseAnd does not turn His words aside,But will arise against the house of evildoersAnd against the help of the workers of iniquity.

But the noble man counsels noble plans;And by noble plans he rises up.

But there the Mighty One, Yahweh, will be for usA place of rivers and wide canalsOn which no boat with oars will go,And on which no mighty ship will pass—

But pelican and hedgehog will possess it,And owl and raven will dwell in it;And He will stretch over it the line of utter formlessnessAnd the plumb line of utter void.

Say to those with an anxious heart,"Be strong, fear not.Behold, your God will come with vengeance;The recompense of God will come,But He will save you."

And a roadway will be there, a highway,And it will be called the Highway of Holiness.The unclean will not pass by on it,But it will be for him who walks in that way,And ignorant fools will not wander on it.

But if you say to me, ‘We trust in Yahweh our God,' is it not He whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar'?

But Rabshakeh said, "Has my master sent me only to your master and to you to speak these words, and not to the men who sit on the wall, doomed to eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?"

But they were silent and answered him not a word, for the king's commandment was, "Do not answer him."

And they said to him, "Thus says Hezekiah, ‘This day is a day of distress, reproof, and rejection; for children have come to the point of breaking forth, but there is no strength to give birth.

and have cast their gods into the fire, for they were not gods but the work of men's hands, wood and stone. So they have destroyed them.

But now, O Yahweh our God, save us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are Yahweh, You alone."

But I know your sitting downAnd your going out and your coming inAnd your raging against Me.

Behold, for my own well‑being I had great bitterness;But it is You who has held back my soul from the pit of nothingness,For You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

The grass withers, the flower fades,But the word of our God stands forever.

Scarcely have they been planted;Scarcely have they been sown;Scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth,But He merely blows on them, and they wither,And the storm carries them away like stubble.

"But you, Israel, My servant,Jacob whom I have chosen,Seed of Abraham My friend,

You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them,Those who war with you will be as nothing and non‑existent.
