And God said, Look, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food:

but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.

And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called a woman, because she was taken out of a man.

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which Yahweh God had made. And he said to the woman, has God really said, You shall not eat of any tree of the garden?

but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, or else you will die.

And the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die:

for God knows that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as God, knowing good and evil.

And Yahweh God said to the serpent, Because you have done this, cursed are you above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life:

and I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed: he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.

To the woman he said, I will greatly multiply your pain and your conception; in pain you shall bring forth sons; and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you.

And to Adam he said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it: cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life;

thorns also and thistles it shall bring forth to you; and you shall eat the herb of the field;

in the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, until you return to the ground; for out of it were you taken: for dust you are, and to dust you shall return.

If you do well, shall it not be lifted up? and if you do not well, sin is crouching at the door: and to you shall be its desire, but you shall rule over it.

from now on when you till the ground, it shall not yield its strength to you; you shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.

Look, you have driven me out this day from the face of the ground; and from your face I shall be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth; and it will come to pass, that whoever finds me will slay me.

And Yahweh said to him, Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And Yahweh appointed a sign for Cain, lest anyone finding him should smite him.

If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, Truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.

and he named him Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us in our work and in the toil of our hands, [which comes] because of the ground which Yahweh has cursed.
