Dopouštěl se toho, co je zlé v Hospodinových očí. Chodil po cestě svého otce a své matky i po cestě Jarobeáma, syna Nebatova, který svedl Izraele k hříchu. [ (I Kings 22:54) Sloužil Baalovi a klaněl se mu a urážel Hospodina, Boha Izraele; všechno konal tak jako jeho otec. ]
