1 Kings 1:27

I’m certain my lord the king would not have let this happen without letting your servant know who will sit on my lord the king’s throne after him.” Is this thing done by my lord the king, and you haven't shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? Has this thing been brought about by my lord the king and you have not told your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" Did you do this? Since we are your servants, why didn't you tell us who should be king after you?" Has my master the king authorized this without informing your servants who should succeed my master the king on his throne?" "If this thing has been done by my lord the king, why have you not shown your servants who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" "Has this thing been done by my lord the king, and you have not let your servants know who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" Is this thing done by my lord the King, & thou hast not shewed it vnto thy seruant, who should sitte on the throne of my lorde the King after him? Has this thing happened by my lord the king, and you have not made known to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" Did you say they could do this without telling the rest of us who would be the next king? Is this authorized by my lord the king without your having told your servant who would sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewn to thy servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? My lord and king, did you do this without telling us? Please tell us, who will be the next king after you?" Has this thing been done by the order of my lord the king, and you have not told your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? Did Your Majesty approve all this and not even tell your officials who is to succeed you as king?" If it was from my lord the king that this thing has happened, then all is well, but if not, you must let your servants know who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him." If this thing is to come about from my lord the king, then you have not caused your servant to know who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him. Hath my lorde the kynge commaunded this, and not certifyed his seruauntes who shall sytt vpon the seate of my lorde the kynge after him? Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not showed unto thy servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? Has this thing been done by my lord the king, without giving word to your servants who was to be placed on my lord the king's seat after him? Is this thing done of my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it vnto thy seruaunt who should sit on the seate of my lorde the king after him? Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not declared unto thy servant who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?' Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it vnto thy seruant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king, after him? Has this matter happened by the authority of my lord the king, and hast thou not made known to thy servant who shall sit upon the throne of my lord the king after him? Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed unto thy servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? Has my lord the king let this happen without informing your servant who should sit on the throne after my lord the king?" Whether this word yede out fro my lord the kyng, and thou schewidist not to me, thi seruaunt, who schulde sitte on the trone of my lord the king after hym? if from my lord the king this thing hath been, then thou hast not caused thy servant to know who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.' Is this thing done by my lord the king, and you have not shown to your slave who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shown [it] to thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? Is this thing done by my lord the king, and you haven't shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? Has this thing been done by my lord the king, and you have not told your servant who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" Has my lord the king really done this without letting any of his officials know who should be the next king?" Has this been done by my lord the king? Have you not shown your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" Has this thing been brought about by my lord the king and you have not let your servants know who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" If, of my lord the king, this thing had been brought to pass, then wouldest thou not have made known unto thy servant, who should sit upon the throne of my lord the king, after him? Is this word come out from my lord the king, and hast thou not told me, thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? Has this thing been brought about by my lord the king and you have not told your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" if this thing has been from my lord the king, then you have not caused your servant to know who sits on the throne of my lord the king after him." Contextual Overview

11Then Nathan said to Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother, “Have you not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith has become king and our lord David does not know it? 11 Then Natan spoke to Bat-Sheva the mother of Shlomo, saying, Haven't you heard that Adoniyahu the son of Haggit reigns, and David our lord doesn't know it? 11 Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not? 11 Then Nathan said to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, "Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith has become king and David our lord does not know it? 11 When Nathan heard about this, he went to Bathsheba, Solomon's mother. "Have you heard that Adonijah, Haggith's son, has made himself king?" Nathan asked. "Our real king, David, does not know it. 11 Nathan said to Bathsheba, Solomon's mother, "Has it been reported to you that Haggith's son Adonijah has become king behind our master David's back? 11Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, "Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith has become king, and David our lord does not know about it? 11 Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, "Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith has become king, and David our lord does not know it? 11 Wherefore Nathan spake vnto Bath-sheba the mother of Salomon, saying, Hast thou not heard, that Adoniiah ye sonne of Haggith doeth reigne, and Dauid our lord knoweth it not? 11Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, "Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith has become king, and David our lord does not know it?

Gill's Notes on the Bible

Is this thing done by my lord the king,.... With his knowledge and consent, and by his orders:

and thou hast not showed [it] unto thy servant; meaning himself, who had brought him a message from the Lord, signifying that Solomon should succeed him; and therefore if that had been countermanded, it seemed strange that he should not have acquainted him with it: or "to thy servants", as the Arabic version; for the word has a plural ending, though pointed as singular; and so it may mean not only himself, but the rest of David's faithful servants that were about him at court, as Kimchi observes:

who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? if he had altered his mind, or had had any direction from the Lord to make any change, he wondered at it that he should neither acquaint him, nor any of his trusty friends, with it.
