The Living Stone and a Holy People

1 Therefore, rid yourselves of(C1) all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all slander.(C2)

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and enuies, and euill speakings,

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

A Living Stone and a Holy People

1 (a)So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.

As Newborn Babes

1 Therefore, (C1)rid yourselves of all (F1)malice and all deceit and (F2)hypocrisy and (F2)envy and all (F2)(C2)slander,

Jesus Is the Living Stone

1 So then, rid yourselves of all evil, all lying, hypocrisy, jealousy, and evil speech.

As Newborn Babes

1 Therefore, (C1)putting aside all (F1)malice and all deceit and (F2)hypocrisy and (F2)envy and all (F2)(C2)slander,

The Lord is Good

1 Rid yourselves, therefore, of all malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander.

A Living Stone and a Holy Nation

1 Stop being hateful! Quit trying to fool people, and start being sincere. Don't be jealous or say cruel things about others.

1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice, of all deceit, hypocrisy and envy, and of all the ways there are of speaking against people;

1 Laying aside therefore all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envyings and all evil speakings,

The Living Stone and the Holy Nation

1 So then, stop doing anything to hurt others. Don't lie anymore, and stop trying to fool people. Don't be jealous or say bad things about others.

1 Wherefore, laying aside all maliciousnes, and all guile, and dissimulation, and enuie, and all euill speaking,

1 THEREFORE lay aside all malice and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and evil accusations,

The Living Stone and the Holy Nation

1 Rid yourselves, then, of all evil; no more lying or hypocrisy or jealousy or insulting language.

Chosen as Living Stones

1 Therefore, ridding yourselves of all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,

1 Then laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil words,

As Newborn Babes

1 So (C1)put aside every trace of malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all (C2)slander and hateful speech;

1 Putting away therefore all [a]wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

1 So putting away all wrongdoing, and all tricks and deceits and envies and evil talk,

1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,

1 Therefore, rid yourselves of every kind of evil and deception, hypocrisy, jealousy, and every kind of slander.[xr]

1 MAKE to cease therefore from you all malice and all guile, and dissimulation, and envy, and slander;

1 Therefore, cease ye from all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisy, and envy, and backbiting.

1 Wherefore lay asyde all maliciousnesse, and all guile, and faynednesse, and enuie, and all backbityng,

1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,

1 Wherefore laying aside all wickedness, and all guile, and dissimulation, and envies,

1 Rid yourselves therefore of all ill-will and all deceitfulness, of insincerity and envy, and of all evil speaking.

1 Therfor putte ye awei al malice, and al gile, and feynyngis, and enuyes, and alle bacbityngis;

1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

1 Wherefore, laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil-speakings,

1 So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.

1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,

1 So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech.

Food for Christians

1 Put out of your life hate and lying. Do not pretend to be someone you are not. Do not always want something someone else has. Do not say bad things about other people.

The Living Stone and a Chosen People

1 Rid yourselves, therefore, of all malice, and all guile, insincerity, envy, and all slander.

1 Putting away, therefore, all vice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envyings and all detractions,

1 Wherefore laying away all malice and all guile and dissimulations and envies and all detractions,

1 So put away all malice and all guile and insincerity and envy and all slander.

1 Wherfore laye asyde all maliciousnes and all gyle and dissimulacion and envie and all backbytynge:

1 Having put aside, then, all evil, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envyings, and all evil speakings,

1 Having put aside, then, all evil, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envyings, and all evil speakings,

1 Wherfore laye asyde all maliciousnes and all gyle, and ypocrisye, and envye, and all bacbytinge,

1 Renouncing therefore every kind of malice, and knavery, hypocrisy, envy, and detraction, as new-born infants desire that mystical milk, 1-3 So clean house! Make a clean sweep of malice and pretense, envy and hurtful talk. You've had a taste of God. Now, like infants at the breast, drink deep of God's pure kindness. Then you'll grow up mature and whole in God.

1 So, pop your dallies on all malcontent behavior. Shuck yourself loose from all deceitful horse tradin', two-faced actions, jealousy, and all manner of negative talk. 2 Like newborn infants, desire the pure milk of the word,(F1)(C1) so that you may grow up into your salvation,(F2) 2 As new borne babes desire the sincere milke of the word, that ye may grow thereby,

2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 2 (b)Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual (c)milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation—2 (C1)and like newborn babies, long for the (F1)(C2)pure (F2)milk of the word, so that by it you may (C3)grow (F3)in respect to salvation, 2 As newborn babies want milk, you should want the pure and simple teaching. By it you can mature in your salvation, 2 (C1)like newborn babies, long for the (F1)(C2)pure (F2)milk of the word, so that by it you may (C3)grow (F3)in respect to salvation,2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 2 Be like newborn babies who are thirsty for the pure spiritual milk that will help you grow and be saved. 2 and be like newborn babies, thirsty for the pure milk of the Word; so that by it, you may grow up into deliverance.

2 as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation, 2 Like newborn babies hungry for milk, you should want the pure teaching that feeds your spirit. With it you can grow up and be saved.2 As newe borne babes desire that sincere milke of the woorde, that yee may growe thereby,2 And become like newborn babes, and long for the word, as for pure and spiritual milk, that you may grow to salvation by it: 2 Be like newborn babies, always thirsty for the pure spiritual milk, so that by drinking it you may grow up and be saved. 2 like newborn infants long for the unadulterated spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up to salvation, 2 as newborn babes desire the pure soul-nourishing milk, that you may grow by it;2 (C1)like newborn babies you should long for the (C2)pure milk of the word, so that by it you may (C3)be nurtured and grow in respect to salvation its ultimate fulfillment, 2 as newborn babes, long for the [b]spiritual milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation; 2 Be full of desire for the true milk of the word, as babies at their mothers' breasts, so that you may go on to salvation;2 as newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby, 2 Like newborn babies, thirst for the pure milk of the word so that by it you may grow in your salvation.[xr] 2 and be as (new)-born babes, and be desirous of the word as of milk pure and spiritual, that by it you may increase unto life.2 And be like infant children; and crave the word, as being the pure spiritual milk by which ye are nourished up to life;2 And as newe borne babes, desire ye ye milke of the worde, which is without deceipt: that ye may growe therby [vnto saluatio]2 as newborn babes, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation; 2 as newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby, 2 and all evil-speakings, As new born babes desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:2 Thirst, like newly-born infants, for pure milk for the soul, that by it you may grow up to salvation;2 as now borun yonge children, resonable, with out gile, coueite ye mylk, that in it ye wexe in to helthe; if netheles ye han tastid,2 as newborn babies, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that you may grow thereby to salvation;2 As new-born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 2 And yearn like newborn infants for pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up to salvation, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, [fn] 2 Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, 2 As new babies want milk, you should want to drink the pure milk which is God's Word so you will grow up and be saved from the punishment of sin. 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation— 2 As new-born babes, for the pure milk that is for the mind, eagerly crave, that, thereby, ye may grow unto salvation: - 2 As newborn babes, desire the rational milk without guile, that thereby you may grow unto salvation:2 Like newborn babes, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up to salvation;2 and as newe borne babes desyre that reasonable mylke which is with out corrupcion that ye maye growe therin.2 as new-born babes the word's pure milk desire ye, that in it ye may grow,2 as newborn babies, desire the reasonable, unspoiled milk, so that you may grow up to salvation,2 & as new borne babes desyre that reasonable mylke, which is without corrupcion, that ye maye growe therin,2 which is without any mixture, and will make you thrive. Since you have tasted how good the Lord is, 2 Like a new foal, you must have a desire for the milk that will help you grow and be strong in your new salvation. Don't let nothing get in the way of heavenly nourishment. 3 if you have tasted(C1) that the Lord is good.(F1)(C2) 3 If so bee yee haue tasted that the Lord is gracious.

3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 3 if indeed you have (d)tasted that the Lord is good.3 if you have (C1)tasted (F1)(C2)the kindness of the Lord. 3 because you have already examined and seen how good the Lord is.3 if you have (C1)tasted (F1)(C2)the kindness of the Lord.3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. 3 You have already found out how good the Lord really is. 3 For you have tasted that Adonai is good.[a]

3 if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord [is] good. 3 You have already tasted the goodness of the Lord.3 Because yee haue tasted that the Lorde is bountifull.3 If so be you have tasted and found out that the LORD is good. 3 (a)As the scripture says, "You have found out for yourselves how kind the Lord is." 3 if you have tasted that the Lord is kind,[a] 3 if indeed you "tasted" "that the Lord is good;" LXX-Psa. 33:9; MT-Psa. 34:8 3 if in fact you have already (C1)tasted (F1)(C2)the goodness and gracious kindness of the Lord. (VR1) 3 if ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious: 3 If you have had a taste of the grace of the Lord:3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious: 3 Surely you have tasted that the Lord is good![xr] 3 If you have tasted and seen how good is the Lord,3 if ye have tasted and seen that the Lord is good:3 If so be that ye haue tasted howe gratious the Lorde is:3 if ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious: 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious: 3 If ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious:3 if you have had any experience of the goodness of the Lord.3 that the Lord is swete.3 if you have tasted that the Lord is gracious:3 If indeed ye have tasted that the Lord [is] gracious. 3 if you have experienced the Lord's kindness.3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 3 now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness. 3 If you have tasted of the Lord, you know how good He is. 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.3 If ye have tasted for yourselves that, gracious, is the Lord, - 3 If so be you have tasted that the Lord is sweet.3 for you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.3 If so be that ye have tasted how plesaunt the lorde is3 if so be ye did taste that the Lord [is] gracious,3 if [it] so be [that] you tasted that the LORD [is] good,3 yf so be that ye haue taisted how frendly the LORDE is.3 adhere to him as to a living stone, 3 Soon, you will have a taste for God's love and kindness.

4 As you come to him, a living stone—rejected by people but chosen and honored by(F1) God—

4 To whom comming as vnto a liuing Stone, disallowed in deed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

4 As you come to him, a living stone (e)rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious,

As Living Stones

4 And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been (C1)rejected by people, but is (F1)choice and precious in the sight of God,

4 Come to the Lord Jesus, the "stone"[a] that lives. The people of the world did not want this stone, but he was the stone God chose, and he was precious.

As Living Stones

4 And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been (C1)rejected by men, but is (F1)choice and precious in the sight of God,

The Living Stone

4 As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious in God’s sight,

4 Come to Jesus Christ. He is the living stone that people have rejected, but which God has chosen and highly honored.

4 As you come to him, the living stone, rejected by people but chosen by God and precious to him,

4 To whom coming, a living stone, cast away indeed as worthless by men, but with God chosen, precious,

4 The Lord Jesus is the living stone.[a] The people of the world decided that they did not want this stone. But he is the one God chose as one of great value. So come to him.

4 To whome comming as vnto a liuing stone disalowed of men, but chosen of God and precious,

4 The one to whom you are coming is the living stone, whom men have rejected, and yet he is chosen and precious with God;

4 Come to the Lord, the living stone rejected by people as worthless but chosen by God as valuable. 4 to whom you are drawing near, a living stone rejected by men but chosen and precious in the sight of God.

4 to whom having drawn near, a living Stone, indeed having been rejected by men, but chosen by God, precious;

As Living Stones

4 Come to Him the risen Lord as to a living Stone which men (C1)rejected and threw away, but which is choice and precious in the sight of God. (VR1) 4 unto whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but with God elect, [c]precious,

4 To whom you come, as to a living stone, not honoured by men, but of great and special value to God;

4 coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.

4 As you come to him, the living stone who was rejected by people but was chosen and precious in God's sight,[xr]

4 unto whom you have come, who is the living stone whom men have rejected, yet (who is) chosen and honourable with Aloha.

4 to whom ye have come, because he is a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but with God elect and precious.

4 To whom ye come, as vnto a lyuyng stone, disalowed of men, but chosen of God and precious:

4 unto whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but with God elect, precious,

4 coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.

4 To whom coming as unto a living stone, rejected indeed by men,

4 Come to Him, the ever-living Stone, rejected indeed by men as worthless, but in God's esteem chosen and held in honour.

4 And neiye ye to hym, that is a lyuyng stoon, and repreuyd of men, but chosun of God, and onourid;

4 to whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but with God elect, precious,

4 To whom coming [as to] a living stone, disallowed indeed by men, but chosen by God, [and] precious,

A Living Stone, a Chosen People

4 So as you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but chosen and precious in God's sight,

4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,

Living Stones for God's House

4 You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God's temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor.

The Living Stone

4 Come to Christ as to a living stone. Men have put Him aside, but He was chosen by God and is of great worth in the sight of God.

4 Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God's sight, and

4 Unto whom coming near, as unto a living stone - by men, indeed, rejected, but, with God, chosen, held in honour,

4 Unto whom coming, as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men but chosen and made honourable by God:

4 Come to him, to that living stone, rejected by men but in God's sight chosen and precious;

4 to whom ye come as vnto a livynge stone disalowed of men but chosen of god and precious:

4 to whom coming -- a living stone -- by men, indeed, having been disapproved of, but with God choice, precious,

4 to whom coming—a living stone—having indeed been disapproved of by men, but with God—choice [and] precious,

4 Vnto whom ye are come, as to the lyuynge stone, which is disalowed of men, but chosen of God and precious.

4 which however rejected it is by men, is the precious stone, which God has chosen: and 4-8 Welcome to the living Stone, the source of life. The workmen took one look and threw it out; God set it in the place of honor. Present yourselves as building stones for the construction of a sanctuary vibrant with life, in which you'll serve as holy priests offering Christ-approved lives up to God. The Scriptures provide precedent:

Look! I'm setting a stone in Zion,
    a cornerstone in the place of honor.
Whoever trusts in this stone as a foundation
    will never have cause to regret it.

To you who trust him, he's a Stone to be proud of, but to those who refuse to trust him,

The stone the workmen threw out
    is now the chief foundation stone.

For the untrusting it's

. . . a stone to trip over,
    a boulder blocking the way.

They trip and fall because they refuse to obey, just as predicted.

The Rock in the Corner

4 You are riding toward Christ, who is the rock in the corner of God's house. He was thrown out by his own people, but chosen by God to do great things and have great honor.

5 you yourselves, as living stones, a spiritual house, are being built to be a holy priesthood(F1) to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God(C1) through Jesus Christ. 5 Ye also as liuely stones, are built vp a spirituall house, an holy Priesthood to offer vp spirituall sacrifice, acceptable to God by Iesus Christ.

5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 5 (f)you yourselves like living stones are being built up as (g)a spiritual house, to be (h)a holy priesthood, (i)to offer spiritual sacrifices (j)acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.5 (C1)you also, as living stones, (F1)are being built up as a (C2)spiritual house for a holy (C3)priesthood, to (C4)offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 5 You also are like living stones, so let yourselves be used to build a spiritual temple—to be holy priests who offer spiritual sacrifices to God. He will accept those sacrifices through Jesus Christ. 5 (C1)you also, as living stones, (F1)are being built up as a (C2)spiritual house for a holy (C3)priesthood, to (C4)offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 5 And now you are living stones that are being used to build a spiritual house. You are also a group of holy priests, and with the help of Jesus Christ you will offer sacrifices that please God. 5 you yourselves, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be cohanim set apart for God to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to him through Yeshua the Messiah.

5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 5 You also are like living stones, and God is using you to build a spiritual house.[b] You are to serve God in this house as holy priests, offering him spiritual sacrifices that he will accept because of Jesus Christ.5 Yee also as liuely stones, bee made a spirituall house, an holy Priesthoode to offer vp spirituall sacrifices acceptable to God by Iesus Christ.5 You also, as living stones, build up yourselves and become spiritual temples and holy priests to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 5 Come as living stones, and let yourselves be used in building the spiritual temple, where you will serve as holy priests to offer spiritual and acceptable sacrifices to God through Jesus Christ. 5 And you yourselves, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 5 you also as living stones are being built a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.5 (C1)You believers, like living stones, are (F1)being built up into a (C2)spiritual house for a holy and dedicated (C3)priesthood, to (C4)offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable and pleasing to God through Jesus Christ. 5 ye also, as living stones, are built up [d]a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 5 You, as living stones, are being made into a house of the spirit, a holy order of priests, making those offerings of the spirit which are pleasing to God through Jesus Christ.5 You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Yeshua the Messiah. 5 you, too, as living stones, are building yourselves up into a spiritual house and a holy priesthood, so that you may offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.[xr] 5 And you also as living stones are builded, and become a spiritual temple, and holy priests to offer sacrifices, which are acceptable before Aloha by Jeshu Meshiha.5 And ye also, as living stones, are builded and become spiritual temples, and holy priests, for the offering of spiritual sacrifices, acceptable before God, through Jesus the Messiah.5 And ye as lyuely stones, be you made a spirituall house, an holy priesthood, for to offer vp spirituall sacrifices, acceptable to God by Iesus Christe.5 ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 5 You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 5 but chosen of God and precious, Ye also as living stones are built up, a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God thro' Jesus Christ.5 And be yourselves also like living stones that are being built up into a spiritual house, to become a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.5 and ye silf as quyk stoonys be ye aboue bildid in to spiritual housis, and an hooli preesthod, to offre spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God bi Jhesu Crist.5 you also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.5 Ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 5 you yourselves, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood and to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

5 And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What's more, you are his holy priests.[a] Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God. 5 You are to be as living stones in the building God is making also. You are His religious leaders giving yourselves to God through Jesus Christ. This kind of gift pleases God. 5 like living stones, let yourselves be built[a] into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 5 Yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, for a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices, well-pleasing unto God through Jesus Christ;5 Be you also as living stones built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.5 and like living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.5 and ye as lyvynge stones are made a spretuall housse and an holy presthode for to offer vp spretuall sacryfice acceptable to god by Iesus Christ.5 and ye yourselves, as living stones, are built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.5 and you yourselves are built up as living stones [into] a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.5 And ye also as lyuynge stones are made a spirituall house, and an holy presthode, to offre vp spirituall sacrifices, acceptable vnto God by Iesus Christ.5 you your selves are as so many living stones, you are the edifice, the spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, agreeable to God by Jesus Christ.

5 And you are also living rocks God will use to construct a spiritual sanctuary. Not only that, but each of you cowboys are his holy men spreading his message. Your sacrifice will not be in blood, but in the life you give to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For it stands in Scripture:

6 Wherefore it is conteined in the Scripture, Beholde, I lay in Sion a chiefe corner stone, elect, precious, and he that beleeueth on him, shall not be confounded.

6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 6 For it stands in Scripture:

(k)"Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone,
    a cornerstone chosen and precious,
(l)and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."6 For this is contained in (F1)Scripture:

"(C1)BEHOLD, I AM LAYING IN ZION A CHOICE STONE, A (C2)PRECIOUS CORNERSTONE,
AND THE ONE WHO BELIEVES IN (F2)HIM WILL NOT BE (F3)PUT TO SHAME."

6 The Scripture says:

"I will put a stone in the ground in Jerusalem.
    Everything will be built on this important and precious rock.
Anyone who trusts in him
    will never be disappointed." Isaiah 28:166 For this is contained in (F1)Scripture:

"(C1)BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHOICE STONE, A (C2)PRECIOUS CORNER stone,
AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN (F2)HIM WILL NOT BE (F3)DISAPPOINTED."

6 For it stands in Scripture: “See, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.&rdquo(a); 6 It is just as God says in the Scriptures,

"Look! I am placing in Zion
a choice and precious
    cornerstone.
No one who has faith
in that one
    will be disappointed." 6 This is why the Tanakh says,

"Look! I am laying in Tziyon a stone,
a chosen and precious cornerstone;
and whoever rests his trust on it
will certainly not be humiliated."[b]

6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame. 6 The Scriptures say,

"Look, I have chosen a cornerstone of great value,
    and I put that stone in Zion.
Anyone who trusts in him will never be disappointed." (a)6 Wherefore also it is conteyned in the Scripture, Beholde, I put in Sion a chiefe corner stone, elect and precious: and hee that beleeueth therein, shall not be ashamed.6 For as it is said in the scriptures, Behold, I lay in Sion, a chief corner stone, approved, precious: and he who believes on him shall not be ashamed. 6 (b)For the scripture says,

"I chose a valuable stone,
    which I am placing as the cornerstone in Zion;
    and whoever believes in him will never be disappointed." 6 For it stands in scripture,

"Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame."[b]6 Because of this, it is also contained in the Scripture: "Behold," I lay in Zion" an elect, "precious Stone," "a Corner-foundation;" "and the one believing in Him shall not be ashamed, never!" Isa. 28:16 6 For this is contained in Scripture:

"(C1)BEHOLD, I AM LAYING IN ZION A CHOSEN STONE, A (C2)PRECIOUS (honored) CORNERSTONE,
AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM whoever adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him WILL NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED in his expectations." (VR1)
