1 Peter 4
Following Christ
1 Therefore, since Christ suffered(F1) in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same understanding(F2)—because the one who suffers in the flesh is finished(C1) with sin(F3)—
1 For asmuch then as Christ hath suffered for vs in the flesh, arme your selues likewise with the same minde: for hee that hath suffered in the flesh, hath ceassed from sinne:
1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
Stewards of God's Grace
1 Since therefore (a)Christ suffered in the flesh,[a] (b)arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for (c)whoever has suffered in the flesh (d)has ceased from sin,
Keep Fervent in Your Love
1 Therefore, since (C1)Christ has (F1)suffered in the flesh, (C2)arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because (C3)the one who has (F1)suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
Change Your Lives
1 Since Christ suffered while he was in his body, strengthen yourselves with the same way of thinking Christ had. The person who has suffered in the body is finished with sin.
Keep Fervent in Your Love
1 Therefore, since (C1)Christ has (F1)suffered in the flesh, (C2)arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because (C3)he who has (F1)suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
Living for God’s Glory
1 Therefore, since Christ suffered(a) in His body, arm yourselves with the same resolve, because anyone who has suffered in his body is done with sin.
Being Faithful to God
1 Christ suffered here on earth. Now you must be ready to suffer as he did, because suffering shows that you have stopped sinning.
1 Therefore, since the Messiah suffered physically, you too are to arm yourselves with the same attitude. For whoever has suffered physically is finished with sin,
1 Christ, then, having suffered for us in [the] flesh, do *ye* also arm yourselves with the same mind; for he that has suffered in [the] flesh has done with sin,
Changed Lives
1 Christ suffered while he was in his body. So you should strengthen yourselves with the same kind of thinking Christ had. The one who accepts suffering in this life has clearly decided to stop sinning.
1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for vs in the flesh, arme your selues likewise with the same minde, which is, that he which hath suffered in the flesh, hath ceased from sinne,
1 FORASMUCH then as Christ has suffered for you in the flesh, arm yourselves also with this very thought; he who subdues his body ceases from all sin;
Changed Lives
1 Since Christ suffered physically, you too must strengthen yourselves with the same way of thinking that he had; because whoever suffers physically is no longer involved with sin.
The Time for Behaving Like the Gentiles is Past
1 Therefore, because[a] Christ suffered in the flesh, you also equip yourselves with the same way of thinking, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
1 Therefore, Christ having suffered for us in the flesh, also you arm yourselves with the same thought, because he having suffered in the flesh has been made to rest from sin,
Keep Fervent in Your Love
1 Therefore, since (F1)(C1)Christ suffered in the flesh and died for us, (C2)arm yourselves like warriors with the same purpose being willing to suffer for doing what is right and pleasing God, because (C3)whoever has suffered in the flesh being like-minded with Christ is done with intentional sin having stopped pleasing the world,
1 Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same [a]mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased [b]from sin;
1 So that as Jesus was put to death in the flesh, do you yourselves be of the same mind; for the death of the flesh puts an end to sin;
1 Forasmuch then as Messiah suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;
1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in the sphere of the flesh,[fn] you, too, must arm yourselves with the same determination. For the person who has suffered in the sphere of the flesh has stopped sinning,[xr]
1 If then the Meshiha hath suffered for you in the flesh, be you also armed in it with the same mind; for every one who dieth in his body hath ceased from all sins,
1 If then the Messiah hath suffered for you in the flesh, do ye also arm yourselves with the same mind: for every one that is dead in his body, hath ceased from all sins,
1 For as muche then as Christ hath suffered for vs in the fleshe, arme ye your selues lykewise with the same mynde: for he which suffereth in the fleshe, ceasseth from sinne:
1 Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
1 Forasmuch then as Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;
1 Seeing then Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind:
1 Since, then, Christ has suffered in the flesh, you also must arm yourselves with a determination to do the same--because he who has suffered in the flesh has done with sin--
1 Therfor for Crist suffride in fleisch, be ye also armed bi the same thenkynge; for he that suffride in fleisch ceesside fro synnes,
1 Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, you arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;
1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
1 So, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin,
1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us [fn] in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
Living for God
1 So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.[a]
Following Christ Will Mean Suffering
1 Since Christ has suffered in His body, we must be ready to suffer also. Suffering puts an end to sin.
Good Stewards of God's Grace
1 Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh,[a] arm yourselves also with the same intention (for whoever has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin),
1 Christ, then, having suffered in flesh, do, ye also, with the same purpose, arm yourselves, - because, he that hath suffered in flesh, hath done with sins, -
1 Christ therefore having suffered in the flesh, be you also armed with the same thought: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sins:
1 Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same thought, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
1 For as moche as christ hath suffred for vs in the flesshe arme youre selves lyke wyse with the same mynde: for he which suffereth in the flesshe ceasith fro synne
1 Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, ye also with the same mind arm yourselves, because he who did suffer in the flesh hath done with sin,
1 Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same mind, because he who suffered in the flesh has finished [with] sin,
1 For as moch then as Christ hath suffred for vs in ye flesh, arme youre selues likewyse with the same mynde. For he which suffreth in the flesh, ceasseth fro synne,
1 Since then Christ has with respect to his mortal nature died for us, arm yourselves with this reflection, that he, who is dead with respect to sensuality, has renounced sin; 1-2 Since Jesus went through everything you're going through and more, learn to think like him. Think of your sufferings as a weaning from that old sinful habit of always expecting to get your own way. Then you'll be able to live out your days free to pursue what God wants instead of being tyrannized by what you want.
1 Don't you remember that Jesus suffered physically? If it happened to him it will happen to you so be ready. If you suffer for the same reasons Jesus suffered then that proves you are done with sin. Cowboys Know How to Suffer
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 2 (e)so as to live for (f)the rest of the time in the flesh (g)no longer for human passions but (h)for the will of God.2 (C1)so as to live (C2)the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the (C3)will of God. 2 Strengthen yourselves so that you will live here on earth doing what God wants, not the evil things people want. 2 (C1)so as to live (C2)the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the (C3)will of God.2 Consequently, he does not live out his remaining time on earth for human passions, but for the will of God. 2 It means you have turned from your own desires and want to obey God for the rest of your life. 2 with the result that he lives the rest of his earthly life no longer controlled by human desires, but by God's will.
2 no longer to live the rest of [his] time in [the] flesh to men's lusts, but to God's will. 2 Strengthen yourselves so that you will live your lives here on earth doing what God wants, not the evil things that people want to do.2 That he hence forward should liue (as much time as remaineth in the flesh) not after the lusts of men, but after the will of God.2 That he should no longer live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 2 From now on, then, you must live the rest of your earthly lives controlled by God's will and not by human desires. 2 in order to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer for human desires, but for the will of God. 2 for him no longer to live in the lusts of men, but to live the remaining time in the flesh in the will of God.2 (C1)so that he can no longer spend (C2)the rest of his natural life living for human appetites and desires, but lives for the (C3)will and purpose of God. 2 that [c]ye no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 2 So that you may give the rest of your lives in the flesh, not to the desires of men, but to the purpose of God.2 that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 2 so that he can live the rest of his time in the flesh guided, not by human desires, but by the will of God.[xr] 2 that henceforth to the lusts of men he should not live, what time he is in the body, but to the will of Aloha.2 2 that he may no longer be alive to the lusts of men, while he is in the body, but [fn] to do the pleasure of God. 2 That he hence forwarde shoulde lyue, as much tyme as remayneth in ye fleshe, not after the lustes of men, but after the wyll of God.2 that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 2 that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 2 (for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin) That ye may no longer live the rest of your time in the flesh, to the desire of men, but to the will of God.2 that in future you may spend the rest of your earthly lives, governed not by human passions, but by the will of God.2 that that is left now in fleisch lyue not now to the desiris of men, but to the wille of God.2 that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the desires of men, but to the will of God.2 That he no longer should live the rest of [his] time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 2 in that he spends the rest of his time on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires. 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 2 You won't spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God. 2 You should no longer spend the rest of your life giving in to the sinful desires of the flesh. But do what God wants as long as you live in this world. 2 so as to live for the rest of your earthly life[b] no longer by human desires but by the will of God. 2 To the end that, no longer, in men's covetings, but in God's will, ye may live, the still remaining time.2 That now he may live the rest of his time in the flesh, not after the desires of men but according to the will of God.2 so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer by human passions but by the will of God.2 that he hence forwarde shuld lyve as moche tyme as remayneth in the flesshe: not after ye lustes of men but after the will of God.2 no more in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh;2 no longer in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh;2 yt hece forth (as moch tyme as yet remayneth in ye flesh) he shulde not lyue after the lustes of me, but after the wil of God.2 so that for the future he does not pass the rest of this life in gratifying his sensual passions, but in conformity to the divine precepts. 2 This is good news because you will no longer be chasing your tails, but will be ready to ride for the Lord. 3 For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires,(C1) drunkenness, orgies,(C2) carousing, and lawless idolatry. 3 For the time past of our life may suffice vs to haue wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciuiousnes, lusts, excesse of wine, reuellings, banquetings, and abhominable idolatries.
3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 3 For the time that is past (i)suffices (j)for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.3 For (C1)the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, (F1)(C2)having pursued a course of indecent behavior, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and wanton idolatries. 3 In the past you wasted too much time doing what nonbelievers enjoy. You were guilty of sexual sins, evil desires, drunkenness, wild and drunken parties, and hateful idol worship. 3 For (C1)the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, (F1)(C2)having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and (F2)abominable idolatries.3 For you have spent enough time in the past carrying out the same desires as the Gentiles: living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and detestable idolatry. 3 You have already lived long enough like people who don't know God. You were immoral and followed your evil desires. You went around drinking and partying and carrying on. In fact, you even worshiped disgusting idols. 3 For you have spent enough time already living the way the pagans want you to live — in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, wild parties and forbidden idol-worship.
3 For the time past [is] sufficient [for us] to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, wine-drinking, revels, drinkings, and unhallowed idolatries. 3 In the past you wasted too much time doing what those who don't know God like to do. You were living immoral lives, doing the evil things you wanted to do. You were always getting drunk, having wild drinking parties, and doing shameful things in your worship of idols.3 For it is sufficient for vs that we haue spet the time past of ye life, after the lust of the Gentiles, walking in wantonnes, lustes, drunkenes, in gluttonie, drinkings, & in abominable idolatries.3 For the time past sufficed to have wrought the will of the pagans when you lived in lasciviousness, drunkenness, revellings, indecent singing, and worship of idols. 3 You have spent enough time in the past doing what the heathen like to do. Your lives were spent in indecency, lust, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and the disgusting worship of idols. 3 For the time that has passed was sufficient to do what the Gentiles desire to do[b], having lived in licentiousness, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and wanton idolatries, 3 For the time of life having passed is sufficient for us to have worked out the will of the nations, having gone on in wantonness, lusts, drunkenness, parties, carousings, and lawless idolatries;3 For (C1)the time already past is more than enough for doing what the unsaved Gentiles like to do—(F1)(C2)living unrestrained as you have done in a course of shameless sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and wanton idolatries. 3 For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries: 3 Because for long enough, in times past, we have been living after the way of the Gentiles, given up to the desires of the flesh, to drinking and feasting and loose behaviour and unclean worship of images;3 For we have spent enough of our past time living in doing the desire of the Goyim, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries. 3 For you spent enough time in the past doing what the Gentiles like to do, living in sensuality, sinful desires, drunkenness, wild celebrations, drinking parties, and detestable idolatry.[xr] 3 For the time which hath passed sufficeth to have served the will of the Gentiles in indulgence, in drunkenness, in vileness, in revellings, and in the service of demons.3 For the time that is past was enough, when ye wrought the pleasure of the profane, in dissoluteness, and in ebriety, and in lasciviousness, and in revelling, and in the worship of demons.3 For it is sufficient for vs that we haue spent the tyme that is paste of the lyfe, after the wyll of the gentiles, walkyng in wantonnesse, lustes, in excesse of wynes, in excesse of eatyng, in excesse of drynkyng, and abominable idolatrie.3 For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries: 3 For we have spent enough of our past time living in doing the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries. 3 For the time past of your life sufficeth to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when ye walked in lasciviousness, evil desires, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries.3 For you have given time enough in the past to the doing of the things which the Gentiles delight in-- pursuing, as you did, a course of habitual licence, debauchery, hard drinking, noisy revelry, drunkenness and unholy image-worship.3 For the time that is passid is ynow to the wille of hethene men to be endid, whiche walkiden in letcheries, and lustis, in myche drinking of wyn, in vnmesurable etyngis, and drynkyngis, and vnleueful worschiping of mawmetis.3 For the time past may suffice to have worked the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in sexual immorality, erotic desires, winebibbings, revelings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:3 For the time past of [our] life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 3 For the time that has passed was sufficient for you to do what the non-Christians desire. You lived then in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts, and wanton idolatries. 3 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime [fn] in doing the will of the Gentiles--when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 3 You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy—their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols. 3 In the past you gave enough of your life over to living like the people who do not know God. You gave your life to sex sins and to sinful desires. You got drunk and went to wild parties and to drinking parties and you worshiped false gods. 3 You have already spent enough time in doing what the Gentiles like to do, living in licentiousness, passions, drunkenness, revels, carousing, and lawless idolatry. 3 For, sufficient, is the bygone time - to have wrought out, the will of the nations, having gone on in wanton ways, covetings, wine-drinkings, revellings, drinking-bouts, and impious idolatries: - 3 For the time past is sufficient to have fulfilled the will of the Gentiles, for them who have walked in riotousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings and unlawful worshipping of idols.3 Let the time that is past suffice for doing what the Gentiles like to do, living in licentiousness, passions, drunkenness, revels, carousing, and lawless idolatry.3 For it is sufficient for vs that we have spent the tyme that is past of the lyfe after the will of the gentyls walkinge in wantannes lustes dronkennes in eatinge drinkinge and in abominable ydolatrie.3 for sufficient to us [is] the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revelings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,3 for the time has sufficiently passed to have carried out the will of the nations, having walked in licentiousness, lusts, excesses of wines, revelings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,3 For it is ynough, yt we haue spent ye tyme past of the life, after the will of ye Heythen, wha we walked in wantannesse, lustes, dronkenes, glotony, ryotous drynkynge, & i abhominable Idolatrye.3 for the time past of your lives may suffice, to have liv'd in conformity to the Gentile customs, in impurity, licentiousness, sottishness, in dissolute festivals, and the criminal rites of idolaters. 3-5 You've already put in your time in that God-ignorant way of life, partying night after night, a drunken and profligate life. Now it's time to be done with it for good. Of course, your old friends don't understand why you don't join in with the old gang anymore. But you don't have to give an account to them. They're the ones who will be called on the carpet—and before God himself.3 You've had your fill of living a sorry life with its lust, sex parties, drunken stupors, and worshiping man-made things. 4 They are surprised that you don’t join them in the same flood of wild living—and they slander(F1) you.
4 Wherein they thinke it strange, that you runne not with them to the same excesse of riot, speaking euil of you:
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: 4 With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of (k)debauchery, and (l)they malign you;4 In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them in the same excesses of (F1)(C1)debauchery, and they (C2)slander you; 4 Nonbelievers think it is strange that you do not do the many wild and wasteful things they do, so they insult you. 4 In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of (C1)dissipation, and they (C2)malign you;
4 Because of this, they consider it strange of you not to plunge with them into the same flood of reckless indiscretion, and they heap abuse on you. 4 Now your former friends wonder why you have stopped running around with them, and they curse you for it. 4 They think it strange that you don't plunge with them into the same flood of dissoluteness, and so they heap insults on you.
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with [them] to the same sink of corruption, speaking injuriously [of you];
4 Now those "friends" think it is strange that you no longer join them in all the wild and wasteful things they do. And so they say bad things about you.
4 Wherein it seemeth to them strange, that yee runne not with them vnto the same excesse of riot: therefore speake they euill of you,
4 And behold, they think it strange that you do not indulge with them in the past excesses, and they blaspheme against you. 4 And now the heathen are surprised when you do not join them in the same wild and reckless living, and so they insult you. 4 with respect to which they are surprised when[c] you do not run with them into the same flood of dissipation, and so they[d] revile you.
4 in which they are surprised, you not running with them into the same overflow of unsavedness, blaspheming;4 In connection with all this, they the unbelievers are resentful and surprised that you do not think like them, value their values and run hand in hand with them into the same excesses of (C1)dissipation and immoral freedom, and they (C2)criticize and abuse and ridicule you and make fun of your values. 4 wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them into the same [d]excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
4 And they are wondering that you no longer go with them in this violent wasting of life, and are saying evil things of you:
4 They think it is strange that you don't run with them into the same excess of riot, blaspheming:
4 They insult you now because they are surprised that you are no longer joining them in the same excesses of wild living.[xr]
4 And, behold, now they wonder and blaspheme at you because you riot not with them in that former indulgence;
4 And lo, they now wonder, and reproach you, because ye revel not with them in the same former dissoluteness;
4 And it seemeth to them an inconuenient thyng, that ye runne not also with them vnto the same excesse of riote, and therefore speake they euyll of you:
4 wherein they think it strange that ye run not with [them] into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you]:
4 They think it is strange that you don't run with them into the same excess of riot, blaspheming:
4 Wherein they think it strange, that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot,
4 At this they are astonished--that you do not run into the same excess of profligacy as they do; and they speak abusively of you.
4 In whiche now thei ben astonyed, in which thing thei wondren, for ye rennen not togidere `in to the same confusioun of letcherie, and blasfemen.
4 wherein they think it strange that you do not run with [them] into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you]:
4 In which they think it strange that ye run not with [them] to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you]: 4 So they are astonished when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you.
4 In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.
4 Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you. 4 Those who do not know God are surprised you do not join them in the sinful things they do. They laugh at you and say bad things against you. 4 They are surprised that you no longer join them in the same excesses of dissipation, and so they blaspheme.[c]
4 Wherein they are taken by surprise that ye run not with them into the same overflow of riotous excess, - uttering defamation:
4 Wherein they think it strange that you run not with them into the same confusion of riotousness: speaking evil of you.
4 They are surprised that you do not now join them in the same wild profligacy, and they abuse you;
4 And it semeth to them a straunge thinge that ye runne not also with them vnto the same excesse of ryote and therfore speake they evill of you
4 in which they think it strange -- your not running with them to the same excess of dissoluteness, speaking evil,
4 in which they think it strange—your not running with them to the same excess of wastefulness, slandering [you]—
4 And it semeth to the a straunge thinge, yt ye runne not also wt them vnto the same excesse of ryote, & speake euell of you.
4 As they think it strange, that you don't concur in the same profusion of luxury, they traduce you. 4 And now, all those you used to run around with are surprised you no longer do these things. Don't worry when they call you mean things. 5 They will give an account to the one who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.(C1) 5 Who shal giue accompt to him that is ready to iudge the quicke & the dead.
5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. 5 but they will give account to him who is ready (m)to judge the living and the dead.5 but they will give an account to Him who is ready to judge (C1)the living and the dead. 5 But they will have to explain this to God, who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge (C1)the living and the dead.5 But they will have to give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 But they will have to answer to God, who judges the living and the dead. 5 But they will have to give an account to him who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.
5 who shall render account to him who is ready to judge [the] living and [the] dead. 5 But they will have to face God to explain what they have done. He is the one who will soon judge everyone—those who are still living and those who have died.5 Which shall giue accounts to him, that is readie to iudge quicke and dead.5 And they shall answer to God who is to judge the quick and the dead. 5 But they will have to give an account of themselves to God, who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 They[e] will give an account to the one who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 who will give account to Him having readiness to judge the living and dead.5 But they will have to give an account to Him who is ready to judge and pass sentence on (C1)the living and the dead. 5 who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 But they will have to give an account of themselves to him who is ready to be the judge of the living and the dead.5 who will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 They will give an account to the one who is ready to judge the living and the dead.[xr] 5 they who shall give account to Aloha, who will judge the dead and the living.5 who must give account to God, who is to judge the living and the dead.5 Whiche shall geue accomptes to hym that is redy to iudge quicke and dead.5 who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. 5 who will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 speaking evil of you, Who shall give account to him that is ready judge the living and the dead.5 But they will have to give account to Him who stands ready to pronounce judgement on the living and the dead.5 And thei schulen yyue resoun to hym, that is redi to deme the quyke and the deed.5 who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 They will face a reckoning before Jesus Christ who stands ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 But remember that they will have to face God, who stands ready to judge everyone, both the living and the dead. 5 Remember, they will give an answer to Him Who judges all who are living or dead. 5 But they will have to give an accounting to him who stands ready to judge the living and the dead. 5 Who shall render an account unto him who is holding in readiness to judge living and dead;5 Who shall render account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.5 but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.5 which shall geve a coptes to him that is redy to iudge quycke and deed.5 who shall give an account to Him who is ready to judge living and dead,5 who will give an account to Him who is ready to judge [the] living and [the] dead,5 (Which shal geue acoptes vnto hi yt is ready to iudge ye quycke & ye deed.)5 but they will be call'd to account by him, who is ready to judge both the living and the dead. 5 But one day, they will give account of their lives to God and it sure ain't going to pretty. 6 For this reason the gospel was also preached to those who are now dead,(F1)(C1) so that, although they might be judged in the flesh according to human standards,(C2) they might live(C3) in the spirit according to God’s standards.
6 For, for this cause was the Gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might bee iudged according to men in the flesh, but liue according to God in the spirit.6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 6 For this is why (n)the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does.6 For (C1)the gospel has for this purpose been (F1)preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as people, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.
6 For this reason the Good News was preached to those who are now dead. Even though they were judged like all people, the Good News was preached to them so they could live in the spirit as God lives.6 For (C1)the gospel has for this purpose been (F1)preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.6 That is why the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged as men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 6 The good news has even been preached to the dead,[a] so that after they have been judged for what they have done in this life, their spirits will live with God. 6 This is why he was proclaimed to those who have died; it was so that, although physically they would receive the judgment common to all humanity, they might live by the Spirit in the way that God has provided.6 For to this [end] were the glad tidings preached to [the] dead also, that they might be judged, as regards men, after [the] flesh, but live, as regards God, after [the] Spirit. 6 Some were told the Good News before they died. They were criticized by others in their life here on earth. But it was God's plan that they hear the Good News so that they could have a new life through the Spirit.[a]6 For vnto this purpose was the Gospell preached also vnto the dead, that they might bee condemned, according to men in the flesh, but might liue according to God in the spirit.6 For, for this cause the gospel was preached also to those who are dead: that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, and live according to God in spirit. 6 That is why the Good News was preached also to the dead, to those who had been judged in their physical existence as everyone is judged; it was preached to them so that in their spiritual existence they may live as God lives. 6 Because for this reason also the gospel was preached to those who are dead, so that they were judged by human standards[f] in the flesh, but they may live in the spirit by God's standards[g].6 For to this end also the gospel was preached to the dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but might live according to God in the Spirit.6 For this is why (C1)the good news of salvation was preached in their lifetimes even to those who are dead, that though they were judged in the flesh as men are, they may live in the spirit according to the will and purpose of God.
