Now David and his men were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave.

3 And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave. 3 He came to the sheep pens beside the road, and a cave was there. Then Saul went in to relieve himself.[c] Now David and his men were sitting in the innermost part of the cave. 3 And he came to the sheepfolds by the way, where there was a cave, and Saul went in (c)to relieve himself.[b] Now David and his men were sitting in the innermost parts (d)of the cave.

3 Saul came to the sheep pens beside the road. A cave was there, and he went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were hiding far back in the cave. 3 He came to the sheepfolds by the road, where there was a cave. Saul went into it to relieve himself.

Now David and his men were sitting in the recesses of the cave. 3 On the way he came to the (F1)sheepfolds where there was a cave; and Saul (C1)went in to (F2)relieve himself. Now (C2)David and his men were sitting in the cave's innermost recesses.3 And he came to the sheepfolds on the way, where there was a cave; and Saul (C1)went in to (F1)relieve himself. Now David and his men were sitting in the inner recesses of the cave.3 And hee came to the sheepecoates by the way where there was a caue, & Saul went in to do his easement: and Dauid and his men sate in the inward parts of the caue.3 And he came to the sheepfolds on the way, where there was a cave; and Saul (C1)went in to (F1)relieve himself. Now (C2)David and his men were sitting in the inner recesses of the cave. 3 There were some sheep pens along the side of the road, and one of them was built around the entrance to a cave. Saul went into the cave to relieve himself.

David and his men were hiding at the back of the cave. 3 (2) Sha'ul took three thousand men chosen from all Isra'el and went searching for David and his men on the cliffs where the mountain goats are.

3 And he came to the sheepfolds by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet; and David and his men were abiding in the recesses of the cave. 3 Saul came to some sheep pens beside the road. There was a cave near there, so Saul went in to relieve himself. David and his men were deep inside that same cave.3 And he came to the sheepfolds on the way where there was a cave; and Saul went into the cave and lay down there; and David and his men were staying on the slope of the cave. 3 (a)He came to a cave close to some sheep pens by the road and went in to relieve himself. It happened to be the very cave in which David and his men were hiding far back in the cave. 3 And on the way he came in to the folds of the flock. And there was a cave. And Saul went in to cover his feet. And David and his men were staying in the recesses of the cave.3 And whan he came to the shepe foldes by ye waye, there was a caue, and Saul wente in to couer his fete. But Dauid and his men sat behinde within the caue. 3 And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet. Now David and his men were [a]abiding in the innermost parts of the cave. 3 And on the way he came to a place where sheep were kept, where there was a hollow in the rock; and Saul went in for a private purpose. Now David and his men were in the deepest part of the hollow.3 And he came to the sheepe coates by the way, where there was a caue, & Saul went in to do his easement: And Dauid and his men remayned in the inward partes of the caue.3 And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet. Now David and his men were sitting in the innermost parts of the cave.3 And hee came to the sheepe coates by the way, where was a caue, and Saul went in to couer his feete: and Dauid and his men remained in the sides of the caue. 3 And he took with him three thousand men, chosen out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men in front of Saddaeem. 3 And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet. Now David and his men were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave. 3 Soon Saul came to the sheepfolds along the road, where there was a cave, and he went in to relieve himself(a). And David and his men were hiding in the recesses of the cave.3 And he cam to the fooldis of scheep, that offriden hem silf to the wei goere. And there was a denne, in to which denne Saul entride, that he schulde purge the wombe; forsothe Dauid and hise men weren hid in the ynnere part of the denne.3 and he cometh in unto folds of the flock, on the way, and there [is] a cave, and Saul goeth in to cover his feet; and David and his men in the sides of the cave are abiding.3 And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave.3 And he came to the sheep-cotes by the way, where [was] a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.3 He came to the sheep pens by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet. Now David and his men were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave. 3 So he came to the sheepfolds by the road, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to attend to his needs. (David and his men were staying in the recesses of the cave.)

3 At the place where the road passes some sheepfolds, Saul went into a cave to relieve himself. But as it happened, David and his men were hiding farther back in that very cave! 3 He came to the places where the sheep were kept on the way. There was a cave there, and Saul went in to get rid of his body waste. Now David and his men were sitting farther back in the cave. 3 He came to the sheepfolds beside the road, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to relieve himself.[a] Now David and his men were sitting in the innermost parts of the cave. 3 And he came into the sheep-folds by the way, there, being a cave, which Saul entered, to cover his feet, - David and his men, in the hinder part of the cave, having taken up their abode.3 (24-4) And he came to the sheepcotes which were in his way. And there was a cave, into which Saul went, to ease nature: now David and his men lay hid in the inner part of the cave.3 And he came to the sheepfolds by the way, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were sitting in the innermost parts of the cave.3 and he comes to folds of the flock, on the way, and there [is] a cave, and Saul goes in to cover his feet; and David and his men are abiding in the sides of the cave.3 He came to the sheepfolds on the way, where there was a cave; and Saul (C1)went in to (F1)relieve himself. Now David and his men were sitting in the inner recesses of the cave.4 so they said to him, “Look, this is the day the Lord told you about: ‘I will hand your enemy over to you so you can do to him whatever you desire.’” Then David got up and secretly cut off the corner of Saul’s robe.

4 The men of David said to him, Behold, the day of which the LORD said to you, Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Sha'ul's robe secretly.

4 And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the Lord said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily. 4 And David's men said to him, "Look, today is the day about which Yahweh said to you, ‘See, I am giving your enemy[d] into your hand, and you can do to him whatever seems good to you.'"[e] So David got up and secretly cut the hem of Saul's robe. 4 And the men of David said to him, (e)"Here is the day of which the Lord said to you, ‘Behold, I will give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.'" Then David arose and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul's robe. 4 The men said to David, "Today is the day the Lord spoke of when he said, ‘I will give your enemy over to you. Do anything you want with him.'"

Then David crept up to Saul and quietly cut off a corner of Saul's robe. 4 David's men said to him, "This is the day about which the Lord said to you, ‘I will give your enemy into your hand, and you can do to him whatever seems appropriate to you.'" So David got up and quietly cut off an edge of Saul's robe. 4 David's men said to him, "Behold, this is (C1)the day of which the LORD said to you, 'Behold, (C2)I will hand over your enemy to you, and you shall do to him as seems good to you.'" Then David arose in the darkness and stealthily cut off the hem (edge) of Saul's robe.4 Then David's men said to him, "Behold, (C1)this is the day of which the LORD said to you, 'Behold; (C2)I am about to hand your enemy over to you, and you shall do to him as it seems good (F1)to you.'" Then David got up and cut off the edge of Saul's robe secretly.4 And the men of Dauid said vnto him, See, the day is come, whereof the Lorde sayde vnto thee, Beholde, I will deliuer thine enemie into thine hande, and thou shalt doe to him as it shall seeme good to thee. Then Dauid arose and cut off the lap of Sauls garment priuily.4 Then the men of David said to him, "Behold, (C1)this is the day of which Yahweh said to you, 'Behold, (C2)I am about to give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it seems good in your eyes.'" Then David arose and cut off the edge of Saul's robe secretly. 4 They whispered to David, "The Lord told you he was going to let you defeat your enemies and do whatever you want with them. This must be the day the Lord was talking about."

David sneaked over and cut off a small piece[a] of Saul's robe, but Saul didn't notice a thing. 4 (3) Near some sheep pens along the way was a cave, and Sha'ul went inside to relieve himself. It happened that David and his men were sitting in the recesses at the back of the cave;

4 And David's men said to him, Behold the day of which Jehovah said to thee, Behold, I will give thine enemy into thy hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good to thee. And David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe secretly. 4 David's men told him, "This is day the Lord told you about when he said, ‘I will give your enemy to you, and you can do whatever you want to him.'"

So David crawled closer and closer to Saul and cut off a corner of Saul's robe. Saul didn't notice what happened.4 And the men of David said to him, Behold, this is the day of which the LORD said to you, Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hands, that you may do to him as shall seem good in your sight. Then David arose and cut off the skirt of Sauls robe stealthily. 4 They said to him, "This is your chance! The Lord has told you that he would put your enemy in your power and you could do to him whatever you wanted to." David crept over and cut off a piece of Saul's robe without Saul's knowing it. 4 And David's men said to him, Behold, the day of which Jehovah said to you, Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it is good in your eyes. But David rose up and quietly cut off the skirt of Saul's robe.4 Then sayde Dauids men vnto him: Lo, this is the daye, wherof the LORDE thy God hath sayde vnto the: Beholde, I wyll delyuer thyne enemye in to thy hande, that thou mayest do wt him what it pleaseth the. And Dauid stode vp, & cut of the typpe of Sauls garment quyetly. 4 And the men of David said unto him, Behold, the day of which Jehovah said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thy hand, and thou shalt do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily. 4 And David's men said to him, Now is the time when the Lord says to you, I will give up your hater into your hands to do with him whatever seems good to you. Then David, getting up, took the skirt of Saul's robe in his hand, cutting off the end of it without his knowledge.4 And the men of Dauid sayd vnto him: See, the day is come, of which the Lord sayde vnto thee, Behold I will deliuer thyne enemie into thyne hand, and thou shalt do to him as it shall seeme good in thy sight. Then Dauid arose, and cut of the lappe of Sauls garment priuily.4 And the men of David said unto him: 'Behold the day in which the LORD hath said unto thee: Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thy hand, and thou shalt do to him as it shall seem good unto thee.' Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily.4 And the men of Dauid sayd vnto him, Beholde the day of which the Lord sayd vnto thee, Behold, I wil deliuer thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest doe to him as it shall seeme good vnto thee. Then Dauid arose, and cut off the skirt of Sauls robe priuily. 4 And he came to the flocks of sheep that were by the way, and there was a cave there; and Saul went in to make preparation, and David and his men were sitting in the inner part of the cave. 4 And the men of David said unto him, Behold, the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, and thou shalt do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul’s robe privily. 4 The men of David said to him, “This is the day about which the LORD said to you, ‘Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hands to do with him as you wish.’” Then David crept up secretly and cut off a corner of Saul's robe.4 And the seruauntis of Dauid seiden to hym, Lo! the dai of which the Lord spak to the, Y schal bitake to thee thin enemy, that thou do to hym as it plesith in thin iyen. Therfor Dauid roos, and kittide the hemme of the mentil of Saul priuely.4 And the men of David say unto him, `Lo, the day of which Jehovah said unto thee, Lo, I am giving thine enemy into thy hand, and thou hast done to him as it is good in thine eyes;' and David riseth and cutteth off the skirt of the upper robe which [is] on Saul -- gently.4 And the men of David said to him, Look, the day of which Yahweh said to you, Look, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe secretly.4 And the men of David said to him, Behold the day of which the LORD said to thee, Behold, I will deliver thy enemy into thy hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good to thee. Then David arose, and privately cut off the skirt of Saul's robe.4 The men of David said to him, Behold, the day of which Yahweh said to you, Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe secretly. 4 Then the men of David said to him, "This is the day of which the LORD said to you, "Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, that you may do to him as it seems good to you."' And David arose and secretly cut off a corner of Saul's robe.

4 "Now's your opportunity!" David's men whispered to him. "Today the Lord is telling you, ‘I will certainly put your enemy into your power, to do with as you wish.'" So David crept forward and cut off a piece of the hem of Saul's robe. 4 David's men said to David, "See, this is the day the Lord told you, ‘See, I am about to give the one who hates you into your hand. You will do to him what you think is best.'" Then David got up and cut off a piece of Saul's clothing in secret. 4 The men of David said to him, "Here is the day of which the Lord said to you, ‘I will give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it seems good to you.'" Then David went and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul's cloak. 4 So David's men said unto him - Lo! the day of which Yahweh said unto thee - Lo! I am about to deliver up thine enemy, into thy hand: therefore shall thou do unto him, as shall be good in thine eyes. And David arose, and cut off the corner of the robe which belonged to Saul, by stealth.4 (24-5) And the servants of David said to him: Behold the day, of which the Lord said to thee: I will deliver thy enemy unto thee, that thou mayst do to him as it shall seem good in thy eyes. Then David arose, and secretly cut off the hem of Saul’s robe.4 And the men of David said to him, "Here is the day of which the LORD said to you, 'Behold, I will give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.'" Then David arose and stealthily cut off the skirt of Saul's robe.4 And the men of David say to him, "Behold, the day of which YHWH said to you, Behold, I am giving your enemy into your hand, and you have done to him as it is good in your eyes"; and David rises and cuts off the skirt of the upper robe which [is] on Saul with stealth.4 The men of David said to him, "Behold, (C1)this is the day of which the LORD said to you, 'Behold; (C2)I am about to give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it seems good (F1)to you.'" Then David arose and cut off the edge of Saul's robe secretly.

5 Afterward, David’s conscience bothered(F1)(C1) him because he had cut off the corner of Saul’s robe.(F2) 5 It happened afterward, that David's heart struck him, because he had cut off Sha'ul's skirt.

5 And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt. 5 And then[f] afterward David felt guilty,[g] because he had cut the hem of Saul's robe.[h] 5 And afterward (f)David's heart struck him, because he had cut off a corner of Saul's robe. 5 Later David felt guilty because he had cut off a corner of Saul's robe. 5 Afterward David's conscience bothered him because he had cut off an edge of Saul's robe. 5 Afterward, (C1)David's (F1)conscience bothered him because he had cut off the hem of Saul's robe.5 But it came about afterward that (C1)David's (F1)conscience bothered him because he had cut off the edge of Saul's robe.5 And afterward Dauid was touched in his heart, because he had cut off the lappe which was on Sauls garment.5 And it happened afterward that (C1)David's heart struck him because he had cut off the edge of Saul's robe. 5 Afterwards, David was sorry that he had even done that, 5 (4) and David's men said to him, "Look! The day has come that Adonai told you about when he said to you, ‘I will turn your enemy over to you, and you will do to him whatever seems good to you.'" Then David stole over unobserved and cut off the corner of Sha'ul's cloak.

5 And it came to pass afterwards that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt. 5 Later, David felt bad about what he did.5 But afterward David regretted that he had cut off the skirt of Sauls robe. 5 But then David's conscience began to hurt, 5 And it happened afterward, the heart of David struck him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.5 Neuertheles it smote him afterwarde in his hert, because he had cut of the typpe of Sauls garment, 5 And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt. 5 And later, David was full of regret for cutting off Saul's skirt.5 And afterwarde Dauids heart smote him, because he had cut of the lap of Sauls garment.5 And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.5 And it came to passe afterward, that Dauids heart smote him, because he had cut off Sauls skirt. 5 And the men of David said to him, Behold, this is the day of which the Lord spoke to thee, that he would deliver thine enemy into thy hands; and thou shalt do to him as it is good in thy sight. So David arose and cut off the skirt of Saul’s garment secretly. 5 And it came to pass afterward, that David’s heart smote him because he had cut off Saul’s skirt. 5 Afterward, David’s conscience was stricken because he had cut off the corner of Saul’s robe.5 Aftir these thingis Dauid smoot his herte, for he hadde kit awei the hemme of the mentil of Saul.5 And it cometh to pass afterwards that the heart of David smiteth him, because that he hath cut off the skirt which [is] on Saul,5 And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.5 And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.5 It happened afterward, that David's heart struck him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt. 5 Now it happened afterward that David's heart troubled him because he had cut Saul's robe.

5 But then David's conscience began bothering him because he had cut Saul's robe. 5 After this, David felt guilty in his heart because he had cut off a piece of Saul's clothing. 5 Afterward David was stricken to the heart because he had cut off a corner of Saul's cloak. 5 And it came to pass afterwards that David's heart smote him, - because he had cut off the corner of the robe which belonged to Saul.5 (24-6) After which David’s heart struck him, because he had cut off the hem of Saul’s robe.5 And afterward David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.5 And it comes to pass afterward that the heart of David strikes him, because that he has cut off the skirt which [is] on Saul,5-7 Immediately, he felt guilty. He said to his men, "God forbid that I should have done this to my master, God's anointed, that I should so much as raise a finger against him. He's God's anointed!" David held his men in check with these words and wouldn't let them pounce on Saul. Saul got up, left the cave, and went on down the road.5 It came about afterward that (C1)David's (F1)conscience bothered him because he had cut off the edge of Saul's robe.6 He said to his men, “I swear before the Lord: I would never do such a thing to my lord, the Lord’s anointed.(C1) I will never lift my hand against him, since he is the Lord’s anointed.”(C2) 6 He said to his men, the LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the LORD's anointed, to put forth my hand against him, seeing he is the LORD's anointed.

6 And he said unto his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the Lord's anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord. 6 He said to his men, "Far be it from me in[i] Yahweh, that I do this thing to my lord, to Yahweh's anointed one, by stretching out my hand against him! For he is the anointed one of Yahweh." 6 He said to his men, (g)"The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord's anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is (h)the Lord's anointed." 6 He said to his men, "May the Lord keep me from doing such a thing to my master! Saul is the Lord's appointed king. I should not do anything against him, because he is the Lord's appointed king!" 6 He said to his men, "May the Lord keep me far away from doing such a thing to my lord, who is the Lord's chosen one, by extending my hand against him. After all, he is the Lord's chosen one." 6 He said to his men, "The LORD (C1)forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the LORD'S anointed, to put out my hand against him, since he is the anointed of the LORD."6 So he said to his men, "(C1)Far be it from me because of the LORD that I would do this thing to my lord, the LORD'S anointed, to reach out with my hand against him, since he is the LORD'S anointed."6 And he said vnto his men, The Lord keepe mee from doing that thing vnto my master the Lords Anoynted, to lay mine hand vpon him: for he is the Anoynted of the Lord.6 So he said to his men, "(C1)Far be it from me because of Yahweh that I should do this thing to my lord, the anointed of Yahweh, to send forth my hand against him, since he is the anointed of Yahweh."6-7 and he told his men, "Stop talking foolishly. We're not going to attack Saul. He's my king, and I pray that the Lord will keep me from doing anything to harm his chosen king."

Saul left the cave and started down the road. 6 (5) But after doing this, David felt remorse over cutting Sha'ul's garment.

6 And he said to his men, Jehovah forbid that I should do this thing to my master, Jehovah's anointed, to stretch forth my hand against him, for he is the anointed of Jehovah. 6 He said to his men, "I pray the Lord never lets me do anything like that to my master again. I must not do anything against Saul, because he is the Lord's chosen king.[a]"6 And David said to the men who were with him, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the LORDS anointed, to stretch forth my hand against him, because he is the anointed of the LORD. 6 (b)and he said to his men, "May the Lord keep me from doing any harm to my master, whom the Lord chose as king! I must not harm him in the least, because he is the king chosen by the Lord!" 6 And he said to his men, Far be it from me, by Jehovah. I shall not do this thing to my lord, to the anointed of Jehovah, to put out my hand against him. For he is the anointed of Jehovah.6 and sayde vnto his men: The LORDE let that be farre frome, that I shulde do it, & laye my hande vpo my lorde the LORDES anoyntd: for he is ye anoynted of the LORDE. 6 And he said unto his men, Jehovah forbid that I should do this thing unto my lord, Jehovah's anointed, to put forth my hand against him, seeing he is Jehovah's anointed. 6 And David said to his men, Before the Lord, never let it be said that my hand was lifted up against my lord, the man of the Lord's selection, for the Lord's holy oil has been put on him.6 And he sayd vnto his men: The Lorde kepe me from doyng that thing vnto my maister the lordes annoynted to lay myne hande vpon him, seing he is the annoynted of the Lorde.6 And he said unto his men: 'The LORD forbid it me, that I should do this thing unto my lord, the LORD'S anointed, to put forth my hand against him, seeing he is the LORD'S anointed.'6 And hee sayd vnto his men, The Lord forbid that I should doe this thing vnto my master the Lords Anoynted, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the Anoynted of the Lord. 6 And it came to pass after this that David’s heart smote him, because he had cut off the skirt of his garment. 6 And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my lord, the LORD’S anointed, to put forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the LORD’S anointed. 6 So he said to his men, “The LORD forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the LORD’s anointed. I will never lift my hand against him, since he is the LORD’s anointed.”6 And Dauid seide to hise men, The Lord be merciful to me, lest Y do this thing to my lord, the crist of the Lord, that Y sende myn hond `in to hym, for he is the crist of the Lord. The Lord lyueth, for no but the Lord smyte hym, ether his dai come, that he die, ether he go doun in to batel and perische, the Lord be merciful to me, that Y sende not myn hond in to the crist of the Lord.6 and he saith to his men, `Far be it from me, by Jehovah; I do not do this thing to my lord -- to the anointed of Jehovah -- to put forth my hand against him, for the anointed of Jehovah he [is].'6 And he said to his men, Yahweh forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, Yahweh's anointed, to put forth my hand against him, seeing he is Yahweh's anointed.6 And he said to his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth my hand against him, seeing he [is] the anointed of the LORD.6 He said to his men, Yahweh forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, Yahweh's anointed, to put forth my hand against him, seeing he is Yahweh's anointed. 6 And he said to his men, "The LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the LORD's anointed, to stretch out my hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD." 6 He said to his men, "The Lord forbid that I should do this to my lord the king. I shouldn't attack the Lord's anointed one, for the Lord himself has chosen him." 6 So he said to his men, "May the Lord not let me put out my hand against my leader, for he is the Lord's chosen one." 6 He said to his men, "The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord's anointed, to raise my hand against him; for he is the Lord's anointed." 6 And he said unto his men - Far be it from me, of Yahweh, that I should do this thing unto my lord, unto the Anointed of Yahweh, to thrust forth my hand against him, - for, the Anointed of Yahweh, is he!6 (24-7) And he said to his men: The Lord be merciful unto me, that I may do no such thing to my master, the Lord’s anointed, as to lay my hand upon him, because he is the Lord’s anointed.6 He said to his men, "The LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the LORD'S anointed, to put forth my hand against him, seeing he is the LORD'S anointed."6 and he says to his men, "Far be it from me, by YHWH; I do not do this thing to my lord—to the anointed of YHWH—to put forth my hand against him, for he [is] the anointed of YHWH."6 So he said to his men, "(C1)Far be it from me because of the LORD that I should do this thing to my lord, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch out my hand against him, since he is the LORD'S anointed."7 With these words David persuaded(F1) his men, and he did not let them rise up against Saul.

7 So David checked his men with these words, and didn't allow them to rise against Sha'ul. Sha'ul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
