2 One day Eli, whose eyesight was failing,(C1) was lying in his usual place. 2 It happened at that time, when `Eli was laid down in his place (now his eyes had begun to grow dim, so that he could not see),

2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see; 2 And then[b] one day when Eli was lying in his place (now his eyes had begun to grow weak so that he was not able to see)

2 At that time Eli, (c)whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see, was lying down in his own place.

2 Eli's eyes were so weak he was almost blind. One night he was lying in bed.

2 Eli's eyes had begun to fail, so that he was unable to see well. At that time he was lying down in his place,

2 Yet it happened at that time, as Eli was lying down in his own place (now (C1)his eyesight had begun to grow dim and he could not see well).

2 But it happened at that time as Eli was lying down in his place (now (C1)his eyesight had begun to be (F1)poor and he could not see well),2 And at that time, as Eli lay in his place, his eyes began to waxe dimme that he could not see.

2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli lay in his place (now his eyes began to grow dim, he could not see),

2 Eli's eyes were getting so weak that he was almost blind. One night he went to his room to go to bed.2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was lying down in his bed, and his eyes had begun to grow dim so that he could not see; 2 One night Eli, who was now almost blind, was sleeping in his own room; 2 And it happened at that time, Eli was lying down in his place, and his eyes had begun to be dim; he was not able to see.2 And it fortuned at the same tyme, that Eli laye in his place, and his eyes beganne to be dymme, so that he coulde not se. 2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place (now his eyes had begun to wax dim, so that he could not see), 2 And at that time, when Eli was resting in his place, (now his eyes were becoming clouded so that he was not able to see,)2 And as at that tyme Eli lay in his place, his eyes began to waxe dymme that he coulde not see.2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place--now his eyes had begun to wax dim, that he could not see--2 And it came to passe at that time, when Eli was layd downe in his place, and his eyes beganne to waxe dimme, that he could not see; 2 And it came to pass at that time that Heli was sleeping in his place; and his eyes began to fail, and could not see. 2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, (now his eyes had begun to wax dim, that he could not see,) 2 And at that time Eli, whose eyesight had grown so dim that he could not see, was lying in his room.2 Therfor it was doon in a dai, Heli lay in his bed, and hise iyen dasewiden, and he myyte not se the lanterne of God, bifor that it was quenchid.2 And it cometh to pass, at that time, that Eli is lying down in his place, and his eyes have begun to be dim -- he is not able to see.2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place (now his eyes had begun to wax dim, so that he could not see),2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli [was] laid down in his place, and his eyes began to grow dim, [that] he could not see;2 It happened at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place (now his eyes had begun to grow dim, so that he could not see), 2 And it came to pass at that time, while Eli was lying down in his place, and when his eyes had begun to grow so dim that he could not see,

2 One night Eli, who was almost blind by now, had gone to bed. 2 At that time Eli was lying down in his own place. His eyes had become weak and he could not see well.

2 At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see, was lying down in his room; 2 But it came to pass, at that time, when Eli was lying down in his place, his eyes, having begun to be dim, he could not see,2 And it came to pass one day when Heli lay in his place, and his eyes were grown dim, that he could not see:2 At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim, so that he could not see, was lying down in his own place;2 And it comes to pass, at that time, that Eli is lying down in his place, and his eyes have begun [to be] faded—he is not able to see.

And he said, I have not called, my son. Go back and lie down.6 The LORDE called againe: Samuel. And Samuel arose, & wente vnto Eli, & sayde: Beholde, here am I, thou hast called me. Neuertheles he sayde: My sonne, I haue not called the. So thy waye agayne, and laye the downe to slepe. 6 And Jehovah called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, Here am I; for you certainly said my name. But he said in answer, I said nothing, my son; go to your rest again.6 And the Lorde called once againe, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and sayde: I am here, for thou diddest call me. And he aunswered: I called thee not my sonne, go againe and sleepe.6 And the LORD called yet again Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said: 'Here am I; for thou didst call me.' And he answered: 'I called not, my son; lie down again.'6 And the Lord called yet againe, Samuel. And Samuel arose, and went to Eli, and said, Here am I, for thou diddest call me. And he answered, I called not, my sonne; lie downe againe. 6 And the Lord called again, Samuel, Samuel: and he went to Heli the second time, and said, Behold here am I, for thou didst call me: and he said, I called thee not; return, go to sleep. 6 And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. 6 Once again the LORD called, “Samuel!” So Samuel got up, went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you have called me.” “My son, I did not call,” Eli replied. “Go back and lie down.”6 And he yede and slepte. And the Lord addide eft to clepe Samuel; and Samuel roos, and yede to Hely, and seide, Lo! Y; for thou clepidist me. And Heli answeride, Y clepide not thee, my sone; turne thou ayen and slepe.6 And Jehovah addeth to call again Samuel, and Samuel riseth and goeth unto Eli, and saith, `Here [am] I, for thou hast called for me;' and he saith, `I have not called, my son, turn back, lie down.'6 And Yahweh called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here I am; for you called me. And he answered, I didn't call, my son; lie down again.6 And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here [am] I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.6 Yahweh called yet again, Samuel. Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for you called me. He answered, I didn't call, my son; lie down again. 6 Then the LORD called yet again, "Samuel!" So Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, "Here I am, for you called me." He answered, "I did not call, my son; lie down again."

6 Then the Lord called out again, "Samuel!"

Again Samuel got up and went to Eli. "Here I am. Did you call me?"

"I didn't call you, my son," Eli said. "Go back to bed." 6 The Lord called again, "Samuel!" So Samuel got up and went to Eli, and said, "Here I am, for you called me." But Eli answered, "I did not call you, my son. Lie down again." 6 The Lord called again, "Samuel!" Samuel got up and went to Eli, and said, "Here I am, for you called me." But he said, "I did not call, my son; lie down again." 6 And again Yahweh called once there - Samuel! Then rose Samuel, and went unto Eli, and said - Behold me! for thou calledst me. And he said - I called not, my son, return - lie down.6 And the Lord called Samuel again. And Samuel arose and went to Heli, and said: Here am I: for thou calledst me. He answered: I did not call thee, my son: return and sleep.6 And the LORD called again, "Samuel!" And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, "Here I am, for you called me." But he said, "I did not call, my son; lie down again."6 And YHWH adds to call Samuel again, and Samuel rises and goes to Eli, and says, "Here I [am], for you have called for me"; and he says, "I have not called, my son, turn back, lie down."6-7 God called again, "Samuel, Samuel!"

Samuel got up and went to Eli, "I heard you call. Here I am."

Again Eli said, "Son, I didn't call you. Go back to bed." (This all happened before Samuel knew God for himself. It was before the revelation of God had been given to him personally.)6 The LORD called yet again, "Samuel!" So Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, "Here I am, for you called me." But he (F1)answered, "I did not call, my son, lie down again."

Samuel got up, went to Eli, and said, “Here I am; you called me.”

“I didn’t call, my son,” he replied. “Go back and lie down.”

7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, because the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. 7 Now Shemu'el didn't yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed to him.
